Necro And Assassin Dou'ing??

Was wondering if that would make a decent combo, do to the fact the assassin can put the hate transfer one the tank pet and mostly hit from the rear, however he really would have to watch his DPS... which would work better the necro/assassin or necro/ranger

My GF has a 74 Necro and I play my 74 Assassin with her all the time. I have several heal proc items and use a heal proc poison so coupled with her "healing" we stay alive quite well in most cases. Her FD comes in handy when things go to [Removed for Content] and she can rez me after her tank pet finishes off what ever killed me. She's not as good with the crowd control with her root as I would like so if you have someone who can do that I think it makes a pretty good team. Assassin <and even Ranger> DPS makes using the pet as a tank impossible  but it works long enough to get off some good damage from behind and Necro DPS nothing to scoff at so mobs die quickly. I'd go assassin necro just because they are both evil classes so can be in the same city from the start tho being from different cities isn't nearly as limiting as it once was on PvE. PvP obviously the ranger is right out.

You are mistaken, the assassin can not put their hate transfer on pets.  I have a 77 assassin and my girlfriend has a 75 necro.  Heroic content was easy until about level 60 at which point we needed either a tank or a healer to accomplish most things.  In RoK content it is best for the necro to initiate battles with the tank pet and have the assassin shoot arrows from behind.  Both should spam their roots/slows in case they break.  You can apply poison to the tank pet which helps a little.  We can clear even con ^^^ heroic content in the 70's but if all of the roots/slows break at the same time we have a high chance of dying.As you mentioned, you really have to watch your hate with the tank pet (because you cannot transfer to them).  Concealment helps here by letting you get off some big hits without the big hate.There are much better duoing combos, necro/assassin is certainly a challenging one.

would a necro and some kind of tank work better leather or plate?? I mean a bruiser would probably work best do to the self heals but what about a zerker or monk, or SK (which would probably be the more popular answer)

An SK works well. Got the Necro GF to about 64ish by duoing with an SK  then started duoing with the assassin who was LVL 70 at the time
