Worst solo class in the game?

<p>Are defilers the worst and slowest levelers in the game? Thing is, I've always want to make one cause I like the idea of the class: someone that deals out diseases and debuffs and defiles things in general.. and can heal/ward like a shaman in a group/raid scenario, but everything I read suggests they are ungodly slow at leveling. I could see myself losing interest in the mid-levels cause I like to solo quest grind and not group early on..is this truley the worst class to pick for a soloer? lack of CC or FD, no runspeed/evac/warping for faster questing, low DPS due to only having one nuke and a few dots.. debuffs and stuff that only really help in a group scenario.. can defilers ever solo ^^^ higher than green? </p><p>To put it into perspective i've leveled a berserker recently and it wasnt fast but wasnt unbearably slow, is a defiler an even slower leveler than a zerker? to put it further into prespective I came back to the game recently, I quit originally after DoF.. so I haven't played a fury or necro or any other insane solo class since coming back to the game so maybe I wouldn't see defilers as that slow since I dont know how easy & fast some of the other classes have it?</p><p> If its all true, if i'm still deadset on playing a shaman but soloing a lot, would I just be better off rolling a Mystic and leveling up faster melee style, then betraying much later on when soloing isnt a big deal? </p>

The quest rewards with + will help ALOT. I have two sets of gear. Items with +spell dmg for soloing and Items with +heal for grouping/raiding. Not so sure about the worst soloers and slowest levelers though. I've played all casters and healers, but none of the scouts or fighter classes so I cant comment on those. But the class that I found the hardest to solo with would probably be Templar. I finally betrayed him to Inq and have him Melee specced so its  abit better.</p><p>Happy Holidays!</p>

<p>I am currently a level 77 defiler and have been a defiler since I rolled the character. It didn't seem slow to level for me, but once I was in the 40s I found that I needed at least a duo to finish the majority of my quests.  One thing to take into consideration is that when you reach tier 8, the majority of the content changes from grouping to solo. Having grouped my way from level 20-70 I find myself soloing a lot now because everyone I play with is on different steps of the solo quests. So a strategy of easy leveling as a mystic and then becoming a defiler will still bring you to solo content at the end, and you will have a different skill set with more mystic reflexes than defiler reflexes in a pinch. I think that a defiler is a class that takes a lot of patience to develop, and if you are concerned about the dps before you begin that it may not be the best fit.</p>

<p>i honestly think you would like the melee mystic build alot better, before betraying to defiler i played around with a few different setups and the melee mystic was actually pretty fun to solo with. ive done verry little soloing on my defiler, simply because it takes me about 5 mins to kill any mob.  keep in mind though im completely specced for grp/raid content.  im sure if you specced yourself out good for do damage you would probably be okay. i must admit though after betraying to defiler there was no looking back, best move i ever made.  in short if you want a great group/raid class be a defiler, if u want a soloer/grouper go with a mystic.</p><p>if someone could solo a ^^^ heroic with a defiler i would love to see it</p>

<p>I've played Conjuror, Monk, Brigand, Troubadour, and Defiler.  Defiler is the only one I've currently leveled up to 80, and I did the majority of it soloing.  </p><p>I will say soloing as a defiler can be slow, but I've found I can solo just about anything due to not running out of power and being able to heal myself out of situations.  Usually while soloing, I get begged to join groups and heal.  I've never had that happen with any other class I've played, so it's a nice change.  There are some things other classes find nearly impossible that I'm able to pull off with my defiler--it just takes me a bit of time to get the job done <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src=" width="15" height="15" /></p><p> To clarify, defilers are by no means the best solo class out there, but I wouldn't say they are the worst either.</p>

worst soloer...no I think for that you would want to be looking over at those spoony bards. maybe templars and guardians but not shamans heck no.

From a solo perspective, you might want to betray to mystic, because the combat arts let you mow down solo mobs pretty quickly.   You could always betray back later.

To solo well as defiler, int 488 and the canibalize line in the EOF tree helps a lot. Then work on getting int as high as possible. Also get as much +spell damage and +spell crit gear. You'll solo at decent speed. When you need to group, just swap out those soloing gear. No trouble mowing down yellow cons non-stop in RoK at 72. BTW defiler has runspeed, water breathing and fear spell.

Yea Bards in my opinion cant solo very well. I have a 42 Troub and i can barely pull off killing white con's, sometimes even Blue con's give me trouble. Granted i havent played my Troub since i finally got her some Ebon gear. It just seems like you have to be mastered out and have updated gear just to solo.

Stuff hits really hard and seems to eat through my armour like it's nothing.   And we are still really really slow.  Once I finished leveling my defiler to 80 a few days ago, I started leveling up my ranger and let me tell ya, it's like playing on "easy mode".  The questline that took me two days on the defiler, took me under 2 hours on the ranger.  </p><p>I'm still working out on the best gear and best spec for getting my DPS up on the defiler though.  When solo, I'm only parsing 800ish, which is a far cry from the 1500 i  can parse raid buffed.   </p><p>oh and as someone mentioned, I also carry multiple sets of gear.  I have gear for "Full DPS" which is melee / int / spell stuff, gear for "Heal / DPS" which is heal gear with high INT dual heal/spell bonuses as well as my other sets of healing / regen / resists  gear whcih isn't relevant to soloing.  If soloing stuff that's extra tough, I will sub some of the dmg gear for proc-on-being-hit gear like the ring from OOB and the BP with Counterattack.</p>

Worst soloer? No. Slowest soloer? Yes.We can kill heroics but it takes forever. It also takes us longer to kill even solo mobs. Pretty much everyone I've seen out there soloing will kill stuff faster then us. I've got an 80 bruiser, 76 coercer and 71 dirge. We're much slower then all of them, but I can kill higher level heroics then my dirge can.So, if you're looking for a fast leveling soloer, look elsewhere

<p>I have a 79 defiler and yes its possible to kill a blue ^^^ and its in my opinion VERY hard but yes it can be done.  Please remember a defiler is a primary healer and warder type.  With as much soloing that there is in the game sony is haveing to find new ways to alow or at least "make possible" the ability for all to solo.  In all reality a shammy should not be soloing these mobs, but they can do it.  my 80 necromancer blows through blue conning ^^^ mobs like butter but hes a solo dps type class thats his job.  In no way should sony ever alow a healer type such as a defiler to  have the same ability.  </p><p>I have to say i do feel for some classes in the games.  certian bards and healers, one comes to mind, the templar class.  they have a harder time soloing.  I cant stress this enough.  I would like to see more group type activities in the higher levels and less soloing but since ROK came out.  Its now possible so solo the whole way.  I like to solo at times but i do NOT have a one track mind and thats all i do. there is more to EQ2 then  just soloing.  I do like to solo group and raid.  You miss out on alot of content when all ya do is solo, but then again some people like to just solo and thats ok i guess.</p><p>If sony gives every class the same ability to solo, can you imagine the  problems that would make.  None will wanna raid or group again and then you loose the raiders and the groups and sony cannot afford to do that.  Sony has to be  watchful and try to adhear to  not only the solo classes but the duo'ers  groupers and raiders as well as questers.</p>
