I am wondering how well a ranger would 2 box with a necro... and if not what would be a very good combo.. preferably scout or warrior type (plz no SK's) or a Battle Cleric spec'd Inquisitor? I figure in order to get full use of necro dps to use the tank pet and not have to worry about tossing heals to a group mate.. so I thought possibly the ranger since even though he is tier 1 dps you can be careful even to watch your agro and demolish mobs pretty fast from a distance, and be able to throw a root on in time if you do pull it off the pet?.... Any insight would be very appreciated

*EDIT* Sorry I should have specified a bit more, my #1 choices would be the ranger or battle Inquisitor.. would either work well?? and which one more so

Thank you

It's a solid combo for every day soloing, but the ranger will easily out-aggro the pet, making it difficult to use on named fights.Personally, I've found that either a healer, or a Conjuror, to be the ideal duo partner.

So a ranger/necro would be a very solid duo??? I know that the Inq would probably be better.. But I really enjoy playing my ranger alot more... could it do as much as the the necro/inq combo (or close to) and would I have a problem name farming... provided I really watch the dps so i do not peel agro?? I do not know if there is much logic in my thoughts of just in case agro is peeled that the ranger is at a distance so a quick root would stop him... or snare or fear... and the fact of him being a distance from the mob the necro would not have to really heal except in situations that are grim and in that case they are probably both going to die... then i suppose the necro can always FD then rez. Again any insight to my logic or suggestions would be greatly appreciated because I cannot afford 4 accounts anymore so either the Inq or Ranger has gotta go

Sorry I cannot help you too much with that... I *think* that it would be a good combo if aggro is watched but probably better to ask the necro experts here

I box a necro and coercer pair. In dungeons this pair is fantastic as adds are handled by the coercer, while the necro tanks. I normally use the fighter pet to tank, and set the coercer to hate transfer to the fighter pet. Coercer has a very nice dps buff for the necro pet too.

Rangers aren't as bad as rogues or assassins for this but you do still have to worry about range from the mob and positional attacks; working that while 2-boxing a caster may turn out to be fairly tricky on more challenging content."Easiest" scout to 2-box with a necro by far would be a dirge; lots of buffs/debuffs that don't require positional stuff, and huge tank buff support for the pet. For serious name farming I would go with a healer though; I run a necro/warden combo which works just fine, but melee inquisitor or any other healer would work also. Tank pet has a lot of hp but zero base mitigation, and has trouble with aggro until you've spent a good number of achievements on him. Healer buffs can take up some of the slack and have him tanking much more effectively. (By serious I mean the difference between green/low blue stuff which a necro can solo with pet tanking and taking on white/yellow heroics which is doable with a healer, but would be very tricky with only a dps partner.)

What about any tank class including bruisers and monks... I mean like having a actual tank to take the beating then using a scout or mage pet... but it does not sound very effecient since the necro does not heal very well... someone also said a swashbuckler could be a good combo and of course dirge/troub which everyone seems to say as they combo well with almost any class

Troub would be good with all the caster buffs they get, and the fact they wont steal aggro every 3rd ca like a ranger would. If you decide on picking a healer partner, definitely go with a defiler.

When I get in the mood to box, I actually box two necros. I use the tank pet on one necro and the scout pet on my other necro.

For two-boxing with a necro, the defiler is in my view far better than any of my other toons. The defiler only needs three hotbars to do everything it needs to do, so I just set screen sizes and positions so the defilers hotbars are at the top of the defilers window, which is located on the lower 1/8th of the screen. Set defiler to AF and it's like the necro's spell bars are expanded to include some more DOTs and wards. Tainted heals on my necro are all the pet heals I need, but the group ward and disease debuffs come in handy for taking just about any named mob up through KOS. RoK has been a suicide mission just getting off the docks so I dunno what I can do over there yet.

Disease debuffs, big wards and heals from the defiler are exactly what a nec needs imho.

Edit:

Stabbing 70 Shadowknight Nagafen server

Going 70 Brigand Nagafen server

Caramia 72 Necromancer Nagafen server

Doktar 70 Defiler Nagafen server

Rootatoot 64 Warden Nagafen server

Necrosius Retired 66 Necromancer Crushbone

Nature Retired 60 Inquisitor Crushbone

Just a thought...

Keep warr pet upgraded.

Fury keeps pet targetted, but follows Necro.

dps from necro and Fury, some simple rotations could be worked out with bound keys for simplicity.

Fury is good because it uses ranged non-poitional dps rather than having to place inq in melee range for example, will be much faster grinding. Nothing worse when boxing than too much micro-management.

Your pet gets buffed, healed, Fury dps is good and you can travel!

Hope this helps)
