I'm trying to rp an undead Froglok on my server. As Lower Guk was undead froglok central, I'm trying to find some lore on the place. It's been so long that I honestly don't remember much of the story line there. Just a bunch of good frogs fighting dead frogs, an executioner, and a Shadowknight frog that dropped a fancy sword.Does anyone know exactly how they came to be there, whether they worshipped a particular god, and any of their general story?

Everything you want to learn about the undead frogloks of Guk can be found from the Lost Dungeons of Norrath story.

In short, the Frogloks kicked the trolls out of thier home of Guk, except for Warlord Ykesha, who managed to stay hidden. Ykesha, being of the Broken Skull clan of trolls, worshiped Innoruuk. Innoruuk heard his prayers to help him escape from Guk safely, and decided to use his ire through Ykesha himself. The curse was so powerful that it robbed the soul of any living creature that came within close distance of Ykesha or the Cauldron of Hate that he used to pray to Innoruuk.

Thanks for posting that Cusashorn, that was a good read. I love the lore of EQ, and EQ2, it's great stuff.

And, Ykesha wasn't a member of the Broken Skull Clan, in fact, he was the leader of their arch rivals, the Ykesha Clan of trolls...wow man, really dropped the ball on this one, hehe. Read the link, though, that stuff is all pretty accurate.

The Ykesha tribe did a pretty good job of following both Thule and Innoruuk, though I believe Ykesha was a Thulian. The Broken Skull Clan followed Innoruuk almost exclusively. The remnants of the Ykesha Tribe became the Grobb Clan after the routing of the trolls from Guk.

Only a semi-related note, but man I miss Lower Guk. We used to have a blast going through that place.

Part of the problem I could see with playing an undead anything is that, aside from vampires, and very strong ghosts, most undead are sort of mindless, or if not mindless, stuck the routines of their past lives. They seem to be sort of tortured shadows of their former selves. Even when becoming a lich, it has to be done very carefully, or else you risk trapping your soul and creating a witless corpse to roam around. Skeletons seem to have some mental capacity, but lack the soul of the body, stuck doing the routines preformed when they were alive. Ghosts seem to be more like shards of the soul, spawned from extreme mental anguish, or sadness, or the like. Almost pure emotion.

All in all, it seems rare to see an undead travel away from where it died/lived, unless it has been called forth by a necromancer, and is following its master.

Of course, that's simply my own observation, and what do I know abou the nature of the undead? I'm most deffinately not any sort of accomplished necromancer, or even a shadow knight, so I am not any sort of authority on such things. Furthermore, there always seems to be those few exceptions to the rules.

P.S. The racial name of the trolls is Trolls. Ykeshan is the language used by the descendants of the Ykesha Clan of trolls, though I imagine the Broken Skull Dialect would not be too different. Afterall, this is a language made by trolls, and not the most complicated thing in Norrath. I can't help but wonder what such a language would sound like. A series of grunts and gargles might be asking someone to marry you!

It's the same as calling me a Wisconsinite by name since I live in Wisconsin.
