At level 38, we get Rotting Thrall, which is our zombie pet. My reading on this seems to show that it does AOE damage. When is this pet used? Is it a good solo pet? If so, is it better than our skeletal, tainted sacrement pet? If not, I can't see using it in groups due to its interfering with mezzing.

Rotting Thrall is your level 38 tank pet. It's the upgrade to your level 24 pet, Undying Adherent. At level 52, it upgrades to Diseased Servant. At 66, Undying Dreadnought. And at 77, Undead Knight. You should always use your newest tank pet you have, and always have it upgraded to at least Adept III.You might be thinking of Ghastly Stench, your level 35 dumbfire pet, which does do AoE damage. You can think of it like a different version of your Swarm/Plague of Rats spell. In a group fight, it's not a bad idea to cast it on the non-primary target (ie: if you're fighting 2x ^^ mobs, your tank is targeting one mob, you can stick this on the other mob). If you cast it on a mezzed mob, it will probably break the mez, but it shouldn't wake any mezzed mobs it's currently not fighting.
