<p>Maybe someone can help me to understand this...</p><p> I have +725 spell mod.   Soulrot base damage is 154 - 209 with the first tick comming in at 539 -729.  I am not a math major but that does not equal +725 to the first tick...</p><p>Torrential Pestilence Base damage 194 -238  with the first tick comming in at 356 -436.  Oh, I am using Torrential Pestilence because I have the Master 2 version of that spell and the AD3 version of the Pandemic spell, just was not worth the upgrade (which is another post all together)</p><p> Is there some sort of cap on spell mod items?  Also, Vampire Bats is also a spell yet does not get any +Spell mod added to it at all... Base Damage is 181 - 271,  there is no first tick upgrade.  Maybe some one knows why our Drain Life or Bloodcloud, which are spells, yet do not get any benefit from +spell mod. items.</p><p> Now, conversly... Blood Coil base damage is 237 - 290, but the first tick comes it at a hefty 1127 -1180... again the math does not add up.  </p><p> I am just a little in the dark as to why we got the short end of the dps stick...with sooooo many items having +spell mod on them, yet over half of our spells do not recieve the benefit from them or that benefit is some what skewed. </p><p>Any help to understand this would be greatly appreciated.</p><p>Pahgan</p><p>79 necro  Permafrost</p>

<p>+ spell damage is only supposed to add up to double the base damage, so each spell has a different cap and you'll be seeing different results.</p><p>Vampire Bats is piercing damage, not a normal spell and therefore won't have the + spell damage appled to it.</p><p>AoE spells will only receive 1/3 the amount of + spell damage per target.</p><p>If you have any gear that increases the base damage of your spells this also increases each spell's + spell damage cap.</p><p>There's also a bug with tool tips not applying the correct spell damage boost.</p>
