The visual Appearance slots on a character

ok so I remember they added slots on your UI to place object to change your appearance and you would still wear your normal armor etc etc. This was for looks only. I had forgotten all about this until tonight when I inspected someone and saw the outside row of slots for items to be added for looks in which he had a christmas outfit on in those slots. I do not see those slots on my character and I am using the default UI also.How exactly do I make these slots appear for my toons? I am current with Kanark expac also.

You need to be level 20 to get the appearance slots.  At that point, there should be a tab on your inventory to switch between the equipment and appearance slots.
