I just started thinking today as I did a few quests in Kunzar and got some nice legendary quest rewards, that as I continually increase my spell damage, it might be harder for the pet to keep aggro when I'm soloing. My + spell damage is currently at +205 and I have 2 bracelets waiting for me when I get to 75 that will add another 100. I have noticed that the pet does lose aggro a bit more now that before Kunark, and I do have Sta line taunt so I can handle it kinda, but would it be wise to maybe steer clear of getting a ton more + spell dam gear if I'm going to be doing alot of soloing?

hehe, true, but seems a bit obvious.

Your pet only holds agro as well as it can taunt. If you overdo agro by any means, it can and will loose agro. So be it with +dmg gear or +crit gear or stupid use of life burn, learn to gage your pet's agro holding abilities and stay within them.

Also... I've seen alot of L77+ necros using the adeptIII tank vs the T7 master... Please go read your pet's CAs! The M1 from T7 has few HPs and may even do less damage than the adept III. But as of last week, even at L79, the M1 does 400+ more taunt on all of its taunts! Why the hell would you give up that much taunt?

Simple answer, no.

It would not be good to limit yourself to crappier gear when all you need to do is adjust your spell casting according to the mobs you are pulling and if you are pulling agro from your pet.

Limiting yourself to less then optimal gear = bad

Learning how to adjust your casts in each fight = good

If you have the Pet Taunt ability that is I believe from the wisdom line then you should not have problems. IMO this ability is broken. I have it maxed. It gives "100% chance to increase the pet's hate position by 1". Ok if it's just me and my little tank pet I am pretty sure when I hit this button it should go to him every single time. Does it? NO.

Perceptor's Command can still be resisted, which is usually the reason that your pet doesn't have the mob turn back on him.

I think I am going to try to put together a set of de-aggro procing armor for soloing (maybe mixed with DPS gear)and another set of pure DPS for groups/raids. That way I can hopefully go full burn in any situation.Did everyone notice that the tranquil mastercrafted armor has +35 sta +40 int +45 spell damage?Seems worthwhile to me.

That seems to be pretty much the hard +dmg cap, as the only spell that I can see move up in dmg is Coil M2 using any higher +dmg gear. Realisticly any dmg increase I can see swaping out +dmg gear is from increased INT not the +dmg modifier itself.

IMO this gear can work till you obtain better gear, at least for T1. YMMV.

The pet can and still will be resisted, esp vs mobs higher level than the pet.
