I am a newbie to EQ2 and playing a necro who happens to be level 25. I'm sure like most of you, I have a routine when I enter combat. I usually start with Withering Coil, then Blight, then I'll usually start my Heroic Opportunity with Rotten Blast. If I am fighting against tougher mobs or a group of them and I want to get it over with quickly I'll throw in swarm of rats and lifetap to keep my pet in fighting condition. As the Dots wear out I recast them, Blight being my most effective one at the moment as it is Master II.

Does this resemble what the rest of you are doing out there? Is my strategy way off?

I would also like to know what you all do when facing an encounter of several enemies. How do you guys split them up? My strategy is to Enchain one of the three and face two at a time. I haven't yet figured out how I could be using Fear to my advantage. Anyone care to elaborate on how to best handle an encounter?

I am very interested in being as efficient a player as possible, so all your input is welcome!

I should also add that I am 4 AAs away from 20. I thought I would respec and put them all into Tainted Heals, which will probably change the way I play and the spells I use and their order. Currently I invested in my fighter pet and the STA line. Should I leave those points there and work on TH, or should I respec? From what I hear, TH is the way to go for a pure soloer like myself.

Hello mate, and welcome to EQII

Firstly I'll give you two links, one that speaks of AA's and the spending of them, the other speaking of soloability in regards to AA's.

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=384095

You can switch some points around, but that is pretty much the AA's you want for solo'ing.

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=398159

This one speaks of how big a difference Tainted heals make, and yes, its THAT big a diff.

Your spell rotations will depend on the encounter, and will change as you level up and find new and better ways to deal with certain encounters, but your current strategy isnt bad

As for group encounters, I dont bother with either root or fear. I simply dot em with the AE dot, let the pet gain some hate, the fire off my AE lifetap, and refresh the dot as needed.

Lastely, if you didnt gather it from the second link here, the answer would be a big resounding YES to wether or not you should respec to tainted heals as soon as humanly possibly
