Greetings...

Level 78 Conjy here. Have any of you thought at what point of +spell damage it would take to get you to swap out your BCG?

Found a nice sash for sale at a faction merchant with good stats and +85 spell damage and was just curious what others are thinking.

Thanks for your time...

Bright/Guk

That is a tough question to address because the answer is weighed against how much +Spell DMG, +Spell CRIT, INT and Proc gear that you're already wearing. You'll probably have to test your gear setup and examine with a damage parser.

Damage proc gear is sparse this expansion (intentionally) so hang onto the BCG whatever you do. It's still a very good item and I use it except on those rare occassions when I use Sash of the Nathsar Tribe (10% stoneskin proc for 1 hit and increases group power by 225'ish when you take any damage, handy on fights like Overking).

I have been sawpping various pieces around a lot lately. Seems the bank, vault bins are full of quested no-trade gear and drops from rok now waiting to have some time to sort it all out and determine the best setups from everything that is actually available. At this point I am ready for LU42 to hit and for us to get the housing mannequins so we have a more effective way of storing gear sets Would be awesome if they add a feature like EQUIP GEAR from the mannequin so you can swap ou gear sets quickly.

With so much +spell damage gear out there, I can't forsee swapping the BCG out for another item for +spell damage.

i find it pretty sad that the BCG is still the best waist item outside of Veeshan's after 18 levels. I'd like to think a dev or two would look into this .. but I know better.

I use the Snake-Eye quest reward sash. Has 2% criticals and some big power regen.

1% crit comes out to a total DPS increase of about .3% . . . the regen provided by that belt pales in comparison to an item with Soulsiphon on it. Do yourself a favor, ditch the Snake Eye belt and do the HQ.Hey, don't get me wrong, I used it on my Illusionist . . . until I had the chance to get someone to do the crafting part of BCG for him. It's now collecting dust on him too.

1% crit is not equal to 0.3% dps.A crit hits from max spell damage up to 1.3 x max spell damage, correct, but that doesn't mean every spell you crit on hits for an extra 30%. Spells with a big damage range can hit for more than 100% extra if you crit, so this generalisation is rubbish.Just an example, Crystal blast can have a range sometihng like 700-1500 damage, if you would have hit for 700 with crystal blast on a non-crit, on a crit, you'd hit for 1501, now check your PBAoE.EDIT:Got carried away on a side note, and forgot about the actual topic. No amount of BoE would make me replace my BCG, just because BoE is so easy to cap.I'd probably replace it for +10crit, or a lot of casting haste, but to be honest, the elemental debuff and the damage proc make it pretty hard to beat.

Extra note about crits and BoE:current BoE cap is 50% base spell damage, but if you crit, the BoE cap goes up too, to 50% base crit damage. So being over the cap slightly makes crits hit for more than 1.3xmax damage I think.

The generalization is just that - a place to start. For a Conjuror who gets a portion of their damage from pets which do not benefit from our crits, it's actually probably dead on.In any case, I haven't yet seen a belt worth shelving the BCG for. I'm not saying there isn't one, just that I haven't seen it.I think I might have a second thought about it if I were a Sorcerer, since they have fewer casts for larger chunks of damage. However, for fast casters like Summoners and Enchanters, BCG is pretty much the definitive piece atm.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their input about the BCG... learned some stuff in the process! Im definitely going to be leaving the BCG on and taking a look into my possible overkill status on the +spell damage!

Good hunting...
