Hi all, I had bought this game over a year ago but didn't really feel pulled into it and deactivated my account until about a month ago. I started up again with a wizzy, after playing a raid tank in wow for 2+ years I decided to try something totally different and I'm loving my wizard. My question is regarding the number of AA points I should have at my level. I leveled so quickly in the beginning that I'm now level 36 but only have 26AA's. I couldn't find a lot of locations and ended up grinding out xp against mobs rather than questing for about 15 levels, and now I've been doing a lot more questing so the AA points have been coming in but I feel like I still might be behind a bit. I'm leveling at a rate of about a level a day now and gaining AA points but wondering as I get to be higher level if the AA points are going to be much harder to get and wondering if I should be locking my xp gain to go after more AA points. The reason I've been leveling so quickly is to try and catch up to my gf and her friends, she's level 51 and I'm getting closer, but really concerned I'm shooting myself in the foot with the current methods. Any advice?

Assuming your not on a pvp server, its not that big of a deal. if your Soloing, once you get mana shield (25 aas) and max out magi's shielding (10 aa's) everything else is just fluff. At your level do your best to earn 2aa's for every adventure level if you can. With exps on that can be difficult, but if your trying to catch some friends i personally would leave the exps on.

There are tons of quests 60+ in KoS and Kunark that you will earn plenty of aa's off of, and once you hit 80, all your regular exps will go towards aa exps anyway.

Also remember, once you catch your friends, you can always go back and do grey con quests, and just mentor down to turn them in.

The AA's in EQ2 are not nearly as crucial as the talent tree points in WoW are.

The average leveler will have more Lvls then AA's up to about the 60's. Thats when lvling slows down and AA xp speeds up a bit. Once you reach 70 you should have around 70-80AA points. As long as you complete a ton of quests and kill a ton of named that number might get higher.

as far as which aa line to put points into as well, since I want to be effective in groups I went with the agility line for faster casting instead of the stamina line. I do solo as much as I group, possibly a bit more, but my concern was to be able to do as much damage as possible and keep from pulling aggro off the tank so the shielding wasn't a concern. Should I be respecing into the stamina line under the sorcerer tab? Spending my time currently in the Ferrott leveling where I do have some problems with mobs as they're higher level than I am (hit 37 last night) and many of these mobs are linked, which the agility line seems to help with (faster casting of aoe spells and quicker killing, but it's a race to get them down before they gather round me and beat me to death) Will the stamina line be a better trade off considering my casting time would drop back down? Really trying to be as effective as possible in both groups and solo and not sure what to do here. I currently have 27 AA points after last night so I could put a few of the extras into the shielding skill?

My two cents on the aa lines: After the 8 points into Intelligence, I would do the stamina line first. Increased crits is more important, as your function is overall damage. On the wizard line, many of your heat and cold line options reduce casting times. When you start putting points there, you can bring down your casting time significantly.

Within the Wizard line, work on your cold line first. That is critical until you get to the point where you can take the option of turning all spells cast into cold based spells, and then get the enhancement to your frigid gift. That combination will add damage to both you and your groups overall damage output.

Once you have done this, I would then recommend working on your heat line to get the bonuses to individual spells there, and then flip back to the sorceror tree to top out your intelligence line to reduce your hate accummulation.

That is my two cents...I am sure some others will see it differently.

I started the game on release but quit after about two months.I was about level 35 adv 49or50 crafter when I quit.I have about the same AA as levels, and that is starting doing them from when I came back about three months ago. So don't worry about getting them, it will happen, I mean, once you got them all, what you going to do?As you get a free reset of aa, my advice is try one, if you don't like what it does, change it. I am/will.

The "after christmas" update. So I've just hit level 46 and now am able to group with her (however she's level 55 now, so still a fairly wide range) and I've managed to pick up more AA points along the way and have 45, almost 46. What I'm thinking of doing is putting enough points in the AGL tree to get the end skill and then moving the remainder into the wisdom line for more damage. I've messed about with the stamina line as well as the Magi's shielding in the wizard tree, but for grouping it's not something I'm finding to be necessary. I'm going to respect him again tonight (freakin expensive!) and was wondering how this sounded. I figured I'd max out agl and wis and then for future points I'd put them into the cold line. Any suggestions?

I forget what the stamina line has in it but if I recall right the only thing down the Sorc line that I saw worth while was the str (for crits). Can you explain to a wiz newbie how the other lines down the Sorc tree are worth putting points into?
