At the Tabernacle of Pain there are a series of quests that progress through different materials (Clay, Rock, etc...) Currently I'm on the trial of Copper and the dude is wiping the floor repeatedly with my corpse. I'm AA spec'd for healing, but in terms of soloing gear I have around +550 spell damage right now. I figured that at least by L80 I'd be able to kill the dude - but I repeatedly get stunned over the course of the fight which eventually leads to my death. The fight pretty quickly ends up in a cycle of me barely getting off both wards, then getting stunned with at least one +2.5K hit landing on me while stunned, followed by more frantic self-warding, rinse and repeat, until I run out of power and die.

Any defilers out there that are healing spec'd that have managed to kill this guy?

Pre ward, use a damage shield potion and some of those items with counterattack procs, let mob beat itself to death.

VoA and potion for stun, or if you're in a guild get a signet of freedom of action or whatever its called

I did this up to the last guy who you probly won't beat with this strat

You can also buy damage shield food now, but not sure if it stacks

Some of the quests from different areas in ROK give some good solo gear, they have heals when you're hit, mez's when you're hit, dps boosters, stuff like that. Throw any of those on that you can get your hands on.

Remember to get a good melee weapon.

Just have a healer friend jump up on the pillars / cage before you enter, They can directheal ouf group from there just fine.

I've completed this entire line since hitting level 80. I'm also primary healing spec'ed (agi, sta, wisdom), with mostly legendary and treasured gear from RoK (no set stuff as of yet). I didn't switch out gear for DPS, but just stayed with my normal healing stuff. I think my hp/power with self buffs are 9.3 hp/8k power. Mitigation is around 38%, avoidance is about 27%. My class AA lines are Soulward, Canni, and Curseweaving. All of my spells are Adept 3, with one master (Abasement).

Basically, preward going in and set up Spiritual Shrine. Though I'm not spec'ed for STR, I still have the dog out for a little extra DPS (face the bac of the mob to him to avoid occasional ripostes). I pull with Bane of Shielding line, and get as many debuffs on while refreshing wards and meleeing. Once all my debuffs are off, I twist in damage while refreshing wards/debuffs. Once he's down to 50%, toss in Emancipate and keep wards up. Use emergencies if need be, and refresh Spiritual Shrine when it repops. For the stuns (they suck), I use Voice of the Ancients if it's up when the stun lands, and just concentrate on making sure I have wards up before he can land a stun. Occasionally I could time my shield bash (it dazes and shuts off their auto attack for a few seconds) to land just before he stunned me.

That strat worked for every one of the shackle bosses, though for the stun ones it was usually a close fight. In any case, the fights were very long. I imagine if you spec for DPS and toss on some nuke gear you might be able to get him down before he can kill you, but this was all done with a full healing spec in mind. I would also think STR spec would help a lot on this fight, but again I wasn't speced for that.

Also, if you worship Cazic Thule and are having a lot of trouble, you can throw up Cazic's Will miracle to give you a full minute of DPS. I didn't end up having to do that (but was ready to if I got too frustrated). You can also have a friend heal from the pillars, BUT that will give them a negative faction hit towards the Tabernacle every time they help in this way.
