Greetings. I have been away from EQ2 for about a year and am just coming back. Among the toons I like to play the most is my dark elf shadow knight. He is level 47. As you can probably tell from the level, I am a more casual player, getting on line for a couple of hours here or there when I can. I was hoping there would be some suggestions out there for the best zones to go to now for casual grouping or soloing in the high 40's, low 50's, the gear I need to focus on getting, and whether there have been any major changes in the game mechanics that I need to account for when playing now vs. playing a year ago. All suggestions appreciated!

For your level Id suggest heading to Sinking Sands, then POF.. then LF, then off to TT.

Gear.. if an swing it go for mastercrafted till mid/high 60s. Will be hard to beat that with lootable gear till get into the higher lvl "dungeons."

As for mechanics, theres been some changes probably too many to really go over. Best bet is just jump into the fray and learn as you go. Since been gone away you need to relearn the game anyway. Might aswell relearn it the way it is now then take a trip down memory lane.

Thanks! It is funny, when I first got the game opened back up nothing worked so I first had to relearn how to fix my custom UI. Once I got that done my first thought was "oh my God, look at all those buttons. What the heck do they all mean again???" And I really "main" two toon so that was twice the buttons to recall.

One last question, I know that they have added bunches of gods. Should stick with Inny or is there a consensus for the "best" god for SKs now?

Not really a "best" god for us. its more personal choice. I posted his in another thread so Ill just repeat here and make of it whatever feels right to you (this is just way I see it, doesnt mean its most accurate)

Zek-- obvious for cloak and few his miracles/blessings though personally I see him as better for a melee based class.

Ro-- great for a caster based class as ours. Cloak, pet and blessings all sweet. (specially for a woodelf that plans to burn Tunare out her precius lil forest)

Inny-- well SKs was born to follow Inny from a RP view. The miracles decent, cloak decent though easy to do better. One best rounded pets for us.

Tribunal-- mircales/blessings minorly interesting. Cloak <shrugs> nothing special, specially since no use on a epic. Pet looks awesome for a SK imo.. cant complain about a wis buff, cant dance in the street either.

Bert-- Blesings/miracles seem to had a SK in mind. Pet ugly lil bastich but int is sweet always. Cloak what can I say but... meh. This one almost tempting me from Ro (before long ya wont wear diety cloak anyway,) cept for idea of following a rotten pile of slush doesnt float my boat perse.

Karana-- needs more looking into imo. Cloak not bad at all for a hybrid like us. Pet stats doesnt make me wince. Miracles/blessings not too sweet imo cept for the group rez; now that has some merit in certain situations... specially after our new 80 lvl spells causes everyone to bite the big one....

I went with Zek pre-RoK. Post RoK I switched to Bertox, and I'm happier with him. Though I'm still wearing the Zek cloak until I find a better one

Welcome back.

Yep lots of changes....and tons of new areas and mobs <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />

I went with Brell actually. Still satisfied with it. Mostly take him for defensive measures. Tribunal has a couple nice ones too.

Brell has a miracle that adds 4000 mitgation (at lvl 80, they scale) for 15 seconds.....then heals the group 30% on termination. Like that one.

Another miracle hits for about 7-10K and stuns for 3 seconds (works on Epics). Nice one too.

Has a couple of other dammage miracles...nothing too crazy, but ok (Pet swarm, AOE DoT).

Blessings not exceptional, but are decent too.....+10% to worn armor with ~+1200 Heat/cold.....and ~+800 Health/Power are the ones I usually carry.

Cloak is heal proc. Heals a fair amount, but I don't use it anymore. Swapped it out for a Taunt proc one.

Happy hunting.
