Last night something peculiar happened in Crypt of Agony. Whenever we were getting to fight named mobs I would try to precast group ward and each time I did the named mob would aggro. Even though we weren't in Aggro range. How is this possible? Is there some mechanic within a certain area of room that this would happen? Could it be that somehow the tank had the named targeted and ward cast it seemed to cast against the mob?My current thought is that it has to be with being in the same room as the mob and they code something specific for those rooms. Also, I'm starting to wonder if Mitigation is working correctly with Wards too. Single target wards just go down way to fast on heroic mobs and often time group wards too.

It's one of those new procs. There are a couple that do it.One of them debuffs DPS on targets in the area of effect, another lowers hate.Since it's a Group Ward, you get that increased chance to proc . . . that thing that really helps with Overloaded Heal . . . but it bites you in that case. I'm not sure in your case which particular item was doing it, but it's something from RoK.

I was wearing some DPS proc item. But that's an insanely wide AE to do that, and it never happens when we have roamers go by...

There is a known issue with the proc that lowers your hate in an ae agroing mobs. If you have one of those equip'ed that is most likely the culprit.

Honestly, I don't think I've ever stood in any of the rooms in CoA and cast a ward, my tanks just charge in for the named plus the 2 golems.

As for wards getting knocked down really quick, it isnt a mitigation issue, its just that the mobs hit that hard. I've had a heroic mob smack me plenty of times for 2k-3k non crit without wards. They made the heroic, well heroic. Which honestly I think is a good thing because really, I'm actually healing with thought on some instances and not just spamming group ward and dps'ing.

It's just that the non-heroic mobs are hitting just as hard if not harder at times.

I think it's a good thing though.I like the fact that healers have to actually HEAL now. For so long, it was simply throw out a heal and then figure out what I wanted to do . . . DPS, debuff, aggro a couple extra encounters to make it harder . . . now I'm healing because it has to be done. There are AE's from boss mobs in heroic content, scripted events, boss mobs with unique and challenging abilities. But yea, that weird aggro thing is a known issue, but when it gets fixed? Bah, who knows. Chanters are a wonderful thing sometimes, you know?

Have had at least two raid wipes on Talendor because people wouldn't listen and look at their equipment and take off the AE procing gear with which they kept agroing the dragon from the floor below while casting bufs. The procs on that gear have at least enough range to reach mobs through the ceiling of PoA type levels.Nothing like a surprise dragon in your face mess up a raid. It'd keep the game simpler for many if those procs would only occur while in combat. I'm not adverse to leaving it they way it is and requiring players be aware of what gear they are wearing either though.
