If you are leaning toward alchemist then take it.. I just create scout class with alchemist though cuz alchemist+scout class is great combo heh.

I like to make my own plate armor and transmute them if no longer needed them heh.

Of course, don't take sage, tailor, etc that has nothing to do with SK..

Being a master tinker is also a great 2nd trade option for more utility for a class that already has a lot of utility.Click Invis, Rez(50% chance), jump boots, Charm(lvl 65 and below), another FD option, 25% chance auto-rezer, Goggles for all sight and see invis options, click illusions, Mana and health boosters, swam pets, harvesting and crafting tools, Limited teleports, reverse CoH (ports the tinker to a groupmate), ect ect ect.Easy to level and tons of fun!

I'm kind of waffling between weapon and armor smith. I lean towards armor because there are more armor pieces than weapon pieces, although I'm sure my logic is flawed somehow

In reply to sawtooth, i'm new to this game, but its my understanding that tanks in general benefit more from armoursmithing than weaponsmithing since like you said you get much more items made for your character, which would undoubtly make a much bigger improvement than a crafted weapon.

Metal clusters are the most expensive components on the broker, so I wouldn't take anything related to metal working/shaping unless you have the cash or enjoy mining a ton.

I'd also go with Alchemy. Your profits will sore when you hit 50+ because people will be forced to buy your spells in order to progress.

Two tradeskills spring to my mind instantly, armorer & alchemist. Every ten levels you can make yourself 7 new pieces of armor + a shield as an armorer, or you can make adept III's for each of your spells for those ten levels. Rares for armor are super expensive to buy on the broker, but i've found spell rares to much more affordable through tier three anyway. Or you can just do a lot of your own harvesting for rares.

SK's are extremely gear dependent. IF I was you, I would make 7 different tradeskilling toons (assuming you have a basic EQ2 account) and then you'll pretty much be able to make 90% or more of your own gear. You won't need a sage with this strategy. I would also have one of you toons become a transmuter as well. I think tinkering blows, so don't recommend it as you should be able to buy anythin made with this skill fairly cheap on the broker. Hope ths helped!

I'm a 78 Armorer and just under that in skill as a Tinker. A Tinker needs no one else to be able to craft their components. But you do need a TON of loam for every tier. I'm not kidding. They may be pixels on a screen, but I bet all the loam I used weighs a ton IRL! It is true that the majority of the tinker items are tinker usable only. but not all of them. There are lots of little utility and fun items that can be used by others. Not to mention the harvesting and crafting tools. No one makes better harvesting and crafting tools than a tinker, and EVERYONE can use them. Oh don't forget that you can equip and un-equip them and the buff effect stays on you until death.Tinkering adds so much more utility to the SK it's crazy. If you solo or do small group things, tinkering is the way to go for your secondary tradeskill.

I went Alchemist with mine all the way. So far I've kept them on even tiers, so as I gain a tier in SK, I'll have the ability to make all my own adept3s. In fact, the last tier I had all the SK adept3s already made and ready for the adventurer leveling. I don't have many classes that use armour, so I made one that does armourer only... and does writs for guild status.

I did armor making and it's been great. The only other one I would consider would be alchemist so I could make adept 3s. In fact, not being able to make my own adept 3s is annoying and I will probably make an alchemist my next tradeskiller.

At what level alchemist can you start making adept 3s for about level 30?

Also what is the fastest way to gain experience as an alchemist? Just making stuff?

So if you want to make a lvl 30 combat art, the alchemist needs to be 30+.

Best way to level any TS in my experience is to make every item once that you can. Usually with the common recipes unless you have an abundance of rares. You get around double experience for the first time you make a recipe. Don't be afraid of doing recipes from professions you aren't following. Say you are lvl 20 alchemist, you can still make spells and jewelry from the teens for first time bonus experience if you haven't made before. Once you make an item, you see it's picture instead of a ? mark for an icon.

If you try to grind out exp making same item over and over it will not only be boring, but take much longer usually.

After you reach level 20 you can begin doing tradeskill writs. I've found this to be the easiest way to level, especially on crafters who only receive a few new recipes per level . . . the bonus is you also earn status points for yourself and/or your guild.

Cheers.
