View Full Version : PVP: What class is most fun?

There are so many posts out there on which class is best, so I thought I would start one on which class is the most enjoyable to play from a PVP perspective.

Obviously, this is very subjective, and a ton of criteria factor into "most enjoyable", but what do you all think?

Things that might make a class fun to play: Strategic, tactical, cool abilities that work well in PVP, etc.

Honestly, I don't think this post will help us determine what class is most fun. Rather, it will be cool for all of us to have insight into why others have fun with their class. Might inspire an alt??

The class which *was* most fun was one I could PvP with w/o leveling out of the gear I just spent HOURS grinding for.Er, sorry. Um. Paladin, because its versatile and underrated.

My absolute favorite, after 2 and a half years, is Mystic. Mystic is the most versatile, melee, magic, wards, heals. Very complex to run, maybe better for us older players who take the time to spec out with more thought as to a dierction, magic or melee.

Hmm.. well out of so many classes I've tried on pvp, I would have to say my favorite of all time was a wizard, then fury, ranger, and warden or paladin.

Why wizard?Well since this one is my main, they have awesome resists and very nice dps, sure you will die alot at the first but with my high lvl wizard I can defeat alot of classes, one time a whole group came up to me and i killed them all, all were wearing RoK gear as well.

Why Fury? Very nice beginning dps at t3, and o.kly heals, their resists are decent and can take on alot of damage, this class is a very good one for beginners new to pvp.

Why Ranger? Great dps at t2-t3, wears chainmail so mit is pretty high, and if your agility is speced and pretty high you can have a great advantage dodging basically 90% of one's CA's.

The others are nice, but my top three are the above since those are the ones that i enjoyed and got to champion+ with. Wizard was highest with General but lost it lol.

DO NOT PLAY A RANGER. Play a Swash,Brig or assassin. Unless you inted to group with some real dps. Cause the poor ranger,as of now has none. Love the class, but it's been smacked with the nerf bat so hard, you won't be able to take a blue cone clothie. Period. Manashield and magi's shielding will burn you up,and if you try to stay ranged you're dead when they nuke you to death. And that says nothing for druids. You want a bow class go with an Assassin. Cause that's got dps. Even with my strength line almost filled in,agi also, and 5 points in stamina my ranger at 27 is weaksauce. I figure nextrangers won't be able to equip bows, lol.

Well all depends what you like i LOVE my mystic, but by far is one of the hardes class to play, IMO. and they dont really get good till about lvl 45, and painfull at first but once you get the hang of them and know what to wear and what aa's to pick ( there si no real set way to aa spec a mystic )( i lie melee spec all the way but the other 120 aa is all on your play style). Its great when you solo as a mystic and you actually start killign people by yourself its liek SWEET I KILLED A BRIG, trust me thats a big acomplishment.

Well, my zerker was great fun, but for some reason I got bored of it.. dunno.

The brig is the most fun I've played so far. I LOVE being able to stealth around. And tracking is nice, I enjoy it more for groups and being able to lead groups to named then I do for PVP, but it is nice for PVP as well.

And... well, I'm a pirate!

But Gladiator is cool on the zerker too. My two fav's.

Just can't get into clothies. I like to run around and poke things in the eye and get punched in the lip a few times a fight. Standing around wiggling my fingers just takes so long imo.

By far Coercer for the "What the [Removed for Content] just happened to me" look you recieve when you smoke some hot shot titled healer who thought they were invincible.

I don't play mine any more because my friends play on the other team, but every once in a while, I get to throw that look on some jerk coercer myself.

Definitely a paladin, for a multitude of reasons.1) They are one of the hardest classes to play, since they use all 5 stats, and are always the underdog. However, this makes them all the more rewarding when you're going around rocking freeps.2) They're horrible at first, but at level 80 with raid gear and master spells they become the single best PVP class out there.3) Achievement lines are incredible. What's better than having 68% spell critical chance, spell-reflection, +24% blocking, and a 3-second aoe knockdown/throwback?4) Unless you've met the max-stats/raid gear/full masters/level 80 prerequisites already, then you will actually be required to have a certain degree of intelligence and knowledge of tactics in order to be good at pvp.5) There is nothing, and I repeat NOTHING, more fun than using your 3 knockdowns (if you have the hammer ground STA line achievement skill) to kick freeps off of cliffs. Also, if you have the int-line 100% chance spell reflect achievement like me, throwing an ice nova back at a Wizard is great fun (or you'll resist it with your high wisdom while in defensive stance.)6) Kiting Rangers with low hp won't stand a chance against you. Just hit them with refusal of grace while in offensive stance (having an 8 in int AA helps with this too) and bam, they're dead.7) Lowbie zerg groups won't stand a chance against you. Say you're being attacked by a bunch of defilers and assassins, who have every debuff possible on you. One word: CASTIGATE! High-damage AOE spell that clears all debuffs off you and does its damage for each one. Can you say, "One shotted"?But there are downsides too.1) No one knows what the F a paladin is good for. People generally pick guardians/zerkers/monks to be their tanks, mages and scouts to be DPS, and healers to be their...well...healers. Thus, few people above level 60 will want to group with you. This requires that you go out of your way to make some good friends, or get into a good guild that does frequent raids (in which your Lay on hands will be quite useful at times, as will be your in-combat rez and versatile DPS.)2) Like said; at low levels, YOU WILL SUCK. There is no getting around it. Expect to have a 1-16 KVD ratio until you hit level 30, are a serious twink, or zerg with your 'homies.'3) You do require a brain to play this class. If you aren't using your enviroment (IE: cliffs, water, etc...) against your opponent, moving around correctly, and being sure to watch your HP, then you will die alot no matter how good your armor is. Learning how to run is also useful.4) You need to pick your battles wisely (again, see #3). If you don't have a tactical edge (IE: CLIFFS,) then you will lose against a guardian 5 levels higher than you.5) The class is HARD. Take it from a 69 Fae Paladin when I say that we are a jack of all trades, but master of none. And being a master at something gives you an immediate advantage in PVP combat. Thus, my little tidbits on Paladins for you. I would say they are a great PVP class if you are a slightly advanced player (don't worry if you aren't...the repeated deaths will force you to become good in no time.)Also, a tip. It helps to have money (pefferrably alot for the low levels,) but nothing helps more than knockbacks and a good cliff

You get tons of tricks up your sleeve, so if oyu ahve yoru wits about you, you should be able to take on every class in the game with a fair shot at winning. Some have huge advantages agaisnt you, but otoh, if you know the inqy class, you have your own tricks. the classes I have enjoyed the most so far in pvp is the sk and the inqy. Both classes turn into beasts in the right hands, and in the wrong hands are little more than token vending machines. I also have a love/hate relationship with my coercer.

Obviously if you want to know what class people find the most fun to play, they will all respond with whatever class they play...duh hehe. If we didnt think the class we played was fun we would all reroll.

To accentuate my point, as a bruiser.....I think the most fun class to play is a bruiser.

Reasons: I can do almost anything but not do any one thing as well as anyone else. Provides lots of oppurtunities for various tactics. Favorite role in pvp groups is simply creating chaos everywhere I go.

Downsides: If I have to fill any specific role I have to work twice as hard to get the same results as a class actually meant for that role. People who havent played a bruiser tend to put them in the random button mashing category of difficulity.
