I am posting this message in both guardians and berserkers forums. My question is: whats up with guardians? I see players betraying so they can turn their guardian into a berserker, I am told zerkers hold aggro better, and are usually chosen as MTs over guards, so I ask what are guardians supposed to be good at? Personally I have a few tanks and I think there is a problem with taunts, they are not as effective as they should be, even M2, and it seems tanks have to do lots of damage to hold aggro, but imo it should be the dps classes role (scouts/mages) to do the most damage, not the tank, it is also surprising to hear the most defensive tank in the game is not the one raids usually choose as their MT (eventho of course berserkers still should be able to tank).

Also I would like to hear from berserkers and guardians who tank raids, and have over 100 AAs (and even if they don't tank raids but at least chars who have over 100 points), so they can tell if 50 more AAs made a big difference for them. From what I read in these forums guards don't have aggro control issues anymore as they used to pre RoK, is this true?

a number of zerks have also betrayed to guardian so the opposite is also true, that fact does not mean either class does not do their job well, just that some people think the grass is greener on the other side or want a change. you should choose what you prefer and go from there, zerk is an offensive tank where guard is defensive oriented.

I have 136 AAs atm. Being able to put 70 AAs into the warrior tree helped my DPS some. Maybe a 5% increase. Overall, I DPS very well for a guardian. I never had agro control issues unless I get a suicidal DPSer in my group. Even then, that was only back in the 40s and low 50s.

I am a raid MT. Holding agro on raids is more about your group set up than taunting. However, I can hold agro very well in full defensive mode, as along as the players who are with me are not idiots. It is not the sole responsibility of the tank to hold agro when other classes have means to reduce agro, transfer hate, etc.

As far as group content is concerned pretty much any tank can handle heroic instances.

Most guilds tent to either roll with a guardian or berserker as the main tank. At the end of the day, highly skilled guardians or berserkers are about equal as tanks. There are too many other factors at the raid level to just pick one and say it is superior. Each is superior in certain situations, group set ups.

There is no cookie-cutter, easy mode build / class between the guardian / berserker pair. Player skill is ultimately always going to make the better tank if gear / CA quality are near equal.

i tend to agree, i have seen far too many poorly skilled berserkers out there and the pure fact we are outnumbered a bit by guardians usually defaults us to a secondary position in any real tanking situation even though i honestly think we are fairly close in many aspects of tanking ability but each has its situational benefits.
