The Pocket Golem quest reward from Kunzar Jungle has indeed changed, but in a fairly strange way.

I played with him a bit when I first got him last week, and he summoned as a 'limited pet to aid the caster' type of dumbfire, 1 minute duration, 10 minute recast (etc.), and an 82^ at that. Not surprised that was to be toned back a bit on the levels.

Testing him out tonight though, he summoned as an 80 no-arrow, who will not fight. His description (from the item) now shows him as an Until Cancelled fluff pet, who replaces your deity pet when summoned. He does have a level, and is buffed with Focus Anger - presumably then he could die to AEs. No other fluff pets, the deity pets included, have levels, buffs, etc.

The patch notes said that he'd be reduced in power from the tanking 82^ (well, he never stole aggro for a second from my tank pet, but y'know) - which as stated was not surprising - but was his conversion to fluff pet intended? And if so, why does he have a level and a combat buff? His new description as a "Summons a pet a pocket iron golem", along with being Until Cancelled and replacing deity pets (presumably other fluff pets as well) indicate intentional downgrading to fluff, but that's not how I read the patch notes. And the level and Focus Anger buff remain.

So - what's up with Mr. Pocket Golem?

EDIT - In even weirder news, I've found a way to get him to attack now. By dragging him into a mob's frontal AE, and having him take damage, he decided to retaliate against the skeleton and actually entered combat. Oh-kay then..... is he a fluff pet, or a dumbfire, or....?
