<p>I haven't seen a thread on this subject (except on flames) so I was wondering for those that have already hit 80 and used Puppetmaster (since it's turned dumbfire), what is your opinion?</p><p>All that I've heard is that it completely sucks, I'm hoping for one of two things:</p><p>Option 1- Decent DPS spell</p><p>Option 2- Decent Utility spell</p><p>It sounds as if it's supposed to fit into option 1, but does it? Anyone have any solid numbers or anything to offer the Coercer community? I'm only 76 atm, so it'll be a bit before I can personally test. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>Thanks</p>

It is neither good dps or good utility.How could dumbfires be good utility, anyways?The pets themselves can only be one-shotted, so that means mindbend/auspex/spellscourge etc. will NOT proc when a dumbfire is killed in one shot (Kill shots do not proc).The spell is crap and 2nd only to Possession in terms of most disappointing spells on the game.

<p>If they were to make them spell casters instead of melee (broodling style), then I'd be okay. But with them meleeing, they miss a lot.</p>

I was just asking what Puppetmaster was like and how I'd hoped that we were either getting something that was "decent" for our DPS or utility.

Definetly not decent for our dps. SOE seemed to be designing the spells towards raid/group environments, and well, I hear from my necro pets, and the spamming of dead pets on the screen during aoes that dumbfires kinda suck.the only thing I WILL give our lovely dev team a thumbs up for is making them do mental damage, so our debuffs help... but when they increase damage from 150 to 200 for a hit its a little bit of a let down <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />A nice spell might have been a group style temp buff, similar to Precision of the Maestro etc that turned power drains into damage for the group.

The sad thing is, that even underpowered this spell is still miles ahead of what the original version of Puppetmaster did.Realize that with a dumbfire pet there are two important things to remember - cast them between AE's so that you get the most bang for your buck, and keep them behind the mob (where you should be standing anyway!) so that they don't get smacked immediately.

Oh man, I can't really describe how lame this Puppetmaster spell is. These extremely weak crappy dumbfire pets are always one-shotted, barely do any damage and isn't even worth casting in my opinion. Why on the heck did they give us useless dumbfire pets for our level 80 spell. In fact I named my little puppets Lame just to make a statement. If this was a lower level spell OK, but gosh this is supposed to be a brand new level 80 spell that's supposed to be somewhat impressive and interesting. It's far from it. Why the heck do coercers always get the short end of the stick, honestly? I feel like SOE don't really know what to do with the class. I'm so sick of it. Like this person said its 2nd only to Possession in terms of total craptasticness. Please SOE either buff this spell or gives us something new for our lvl 80, this is really disappointing!</p>

<p>Well,</p><p>I hit level 80 a while ago and have been using this spell regularly since then. Yeah, it's low DPS, but at least it's something I'd use (unlike it's beta form).</p><p> I like the "idea" behind these little guys, if they could just up the damage a bit, it would be really nice.</p>

Since they are little copies of their target it would be cool if they did additional damage to that target when they were killed.

If you start off with a bad spell and then make it a little less bad, they're both still bad spells. If people keep the mentality that "it could've been worse so I'm ok with the new spell", there's no motivation to continue improving the spell to make it useful and that's how classes end up with pointless spells in their spellbooks.

my coercer is only lvl 73 atm but i still dont get how 3x 200 damage is cosidered weak. Does more damage then the sorcerer dumbfires and they are luved by both classes in long fights. also on par with the warden wolves. Seems to me coercer pretty much got an equal or better dumbfire. yeah there not going to be great on short fights but dumbfires never were, there good for long fights or raids. god forbid something isn't useful for a 10 sec fight.

And the few times 25 percent they actually make it the complete Duration. That Wopping 2k DPS in 45 Secs adds 2percent to my Overall DPS which could easily be replaced with an Extra cast of Hemorage..... Probley spelled it wrong. But honestly it Sucks and there is NO excuse. Anybody that says they like this spell obviously hasn't used it or possibly on something good. Also I hate that fact the pets are SOOOOOOO smal. ITS my lvl 80 Special spell I want people to know I cast it. Not these little itty bitty Pets barely seeable doing Barely any DPS. Please People stop telling SOE this is an Okay Spell its not. There is nothing Okay about it. Every time I cast it I think of myself as a Conjur or NEcro. We are not Summoners so why do we have a Summoner spell. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF NORATH give us something our class could use/want/need. </p><p>Nuff Said </p>

Since Spell Curse will only "react" on a hit from a cast spell, my only hope is that Puppetmaster provides at least a better chance for damage via Curse 'cause it's guaranteed they'd be hit.
