View Full Version : Warg motion sickness - way to disable camera bobbing?

Let me preface this by saying that I am not the sort of person who normally gets disoriented or motion sick, especially from video games. I'm fine in boats, cars and airplanes. I play first person shooters with no problems, and the motions of the other mounts in the game don't bother me. I've never been bothered by fae wings, iksar tails, strobing spell effects or any of the other stuff people usually complain about. But tonight I bought a warg, and I don't think I'm ever going to be able to use it, because when it's in motion I feel like I'm going to hurl. The jerkiness of the camera bobbing when it's running gives me a headache and does unpleasant things to my stomach.Yes, I realize there are people who enjoy this aspect of immersion, and I'm not asking that they take that away from you. What I would like to know is if there's a way to disable the camera bobbing when you're on a mount, similar to the option to disable camera pitching in first-person view. Does anyone know of an undocumented command or INI setting for this? And if there isn't one, then PLEASE add one. Aesthetics aside, the new wargs are the best statted mounts in the game for a caster, and it would suck to be unable to use them because of what amounts to a bad UI issue that has no effect on gameplay.

There is currently no way to disable the bobbing. My advice is to avoid jumping on them and keep to running on flat surfaces... or just don't get a warg.

Unfortunately, the wargs are a lot like that horrid Frostfell maze. A lot of people suffered for motion sickness while going to the Frostfell maze, including people who'd never gotten ill from a video game before. The good news? You do eventually get used to the bobing on a warg. It took me about two weeks to do it, but now I feel strange without the moving and bobbing camera. Go figure.

There is still some bobbing when in 1st-person view, plus the inclination to become motion sick on a warg gets worse in 1st-person view, not better.

Psych wrote:
1 wordget a rhino
I've heard the rhinos are worse for people getting motion sickness. Watching someone riding a rhino is quite funny though...kinda looks like they are trying to tame a bull.

I like the way their butts wiggle. Not that I make a habit of staring at rhino butts all day, but they're kind of hard to miss when they take up half your screen.

I'm also unable to use a warg mount because the camera bobbing makes me sick (there was another thread about this shortly after the wargs were put in, where a handful of people said the same thing). A way to disable the bounciness would be great.Do rhinos have the same issue? I'm not really interested in getting one, just curious. I get a bit queasy watching other people ride them, so I figured they're even worse than the wargs. @__@

Even if the problem wasn't there with rhinos, it still wouldn't be a good alternative. The buffs on rhinos are for melee types. The only high-end mount with good caster buffs is a warg. Nor is first-person view an option. If anything, it's worse. Please add an option to disable the camera bobbing when on a mount.

This is why I only play in 3rd person. No bobbing.

What are you talking about? The camera bobs like crazy on a warg in 3rd person view. That was the whole point of this thread.

Cusashorn wrote:
This is why I only play in 3rd person. No bobbing.
o_O There is bobbing in 3rd person. I play in 3rd person, and I get teh gist from the OP that he plays in 3rd person as well. You may not notice the bobbing because you are used to it.
