I know this subject has been beaten to death, but I'd like to know a definitive answer on the matter.

On all the posts I've read, there were people saying Bruisers were 'overpowered' dishing out DPS comparitive to a scout or mage as well as being able to tank.

I don't think this is true, simply by comparing the numbers and recast timers on the Master Is from the Brigand and Bruiser. Most of the Brig's CAs hover at around 1k-2.5k damage while the Bruiser's hover at around 500-1k with similar recast times. Not to mention the Brig's CAs cost less power and also debuff the target significantly. Also, the Brigs have a lot more damage CAs than Brawlers, having played one to 41, I can honestly say that there is ALWAYS a CA available to use, unlike the Bruiser where I can use all of my damage CAs at once and then have to wait a moment for one to refresh.

My question is, how much damage will a Bruiser generally dish out in a group or raid scenerio compared to the actual DPS classes?

Please keep in mind that this is a general, arbitrary fight, assuming equal player skills, gear, buffs and mobs.

How differently would a Bruiser compare to the other DPS class if the case was vs. a single non-epic mob, a group of non-epic mobs, a single raid epic mob, and a group of raid epic mobs.

I think that mathematically, Bruisers dish out about 2/3 the DPS of a Rogue/Predator and around 70% of that of a DPS caster, on single targets, and even less on multiple targets.

I am no where near high end, so I don't know for sure. How do you level 80 or so Brawlers feel?

My other question is, have you noticed an increase or decrease in your comparitive damage to scouts/mages by leveling up to 80?

Honestly what I think the problem is, is people thinking all bruisers are the same. Depending on how you build your Bruiser...You may be able to tank effectively. Depending on how you build your Bruiser, you may be able to dish out massive DPS.

Whats happening is Wizard Thumbupmebum is in a group and a bruiser is the tank. Everything goes spiffy and Thumbupmebum goes away thinking "[Removed for Content], Bruisers are great tanks". Next day he's in a group with a scout class and a different bruiser and the Bruiser keeps doing damage comparable to the scout. So he leaves that day thinking "[Removed for Content] Bruisers do mondo damage". So in his mind hes not seeing Bruiser A and Bruiser B. Hes Seeing Bruisers so he starts to resent them thinking, Bruisers have it all.

What he doesnt see is Bruiser B trying to tank and getting his bum beaten. What he doesnt see is Bruiser A unable to outdamage a cleric because he put all his points into defense and his equipment is geared towards ac and stamina.

Its a tradeoff. Regardless of which way you go, you will always be the worst of the orientation, you will always be worse DPS then a scout, you will always be a worse tank then a Plate or Chain wearer.

Neither of those things are why I play a Bruiser though. Because if I build myself right, I can take a less beating then a scout, and I can outdamage any other fighter. Thats just the edge I need to survive.

I have a level 80 bruiser and I will admit that no other class can even come close to my dps in T8 Heroic zones. My devastation fist will hit end game heroic mobs for between 30k and 40k. I even had one land for 120k. The problem comes in that our most powerful attack was gimped for raids where it almost never lands and even when it does only hits for 4k. My raid dps is only about half of what my single group dps is. Not to mention that I can tank heroic zones but even green epics will ignore my avoidance and pound me into the dirt. This is why a lot of bruisers are very disillusioned with the class. For solo'ing and group'ing bruisers rock but for raids we are borderline useless. I don't understand SoE's reasoning behind letting Zerkers parse 3k in a raid and only let bruiser parse 2k. It has gotten to the point where I think it is time for me to move on and look at other games.

most of the time when players complain about a class being over powered its because they have grouped with a couple of people that owned them dps wise. on my own server i can think of around 5-6 bruisers that would really own for dps currently, but could name more like 20-30 wizards who can really dish it out.

any class can perform above the norm with the right gear aa choices and an attentive player. just choosing a dps class in the select screen doesnt automatically give you a 4k dps parse. but for the most part id say bruisers sit some where under brigands and just above zerkers for dps, but again im sure everyone can think of exceptions to that

its worth noting though as with all expansions there are a few items out there that are over powered that can really throw the parse out of whack, im obviously not going to mention names, let people have fun til the bat swings <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />

as to where my 80 bruiser fits dps wise, id say he is def holding water, its so hard to compare right at the min with people with such mixtures of spell quality, level, aa and gear. im guessing this question will only be truly answered in a few months when most have full masters, aa and mostly maxed out for gear.

my prediction is that as always happens one class is going to find away to do huge amounts of damage over the coming months and get them selfs nerfed, i doubt it will be bruisers, more likely a cloth class from what i seen so far
