FoB was one of my favorite zones in EQ1. I never played an iksar but spent a ton of time there with my dark elf sk farming bone chips to do faction quests with the iksars. I also enjoyed romping around in Kaesora.

Which brings up my topic question, what happened to Kaesora? Judging by the sheer size of the zone, Kaesora SHOULD still exist. Tangin's island and Kurn's Tower are around. Kaesora should still be where it always was. Maybe i missed it but the land mass of the area most assuredly would support the zone being there.

Reasonable insight would be welcome. The land area where the dungeon should be isn't under water or anything like that which is why i question the whereabouts.

Yeah, but where it should be is blocked off with a ridge/wall between Field of Bone and Kunzar Jungle. If someone else doesn't do it by then, I'll take a screenshot of Fens later today and point out where it should be, if it was still in the same location as it used to be.

All I know is that Xalgoz moved to Karnor's Castle. Perhaps he couldn't live in Kaesora anymore.

hmm... rather disappointing that "someone" has once again taken game environmentals and screwed them up subsequently using "the shattering and rending" as an excuse for why things are that way "now".

such a fun zone... such a shame to be lost.

Indeed. I wish to see the Crypt of Dalnir again because thats where all the good monk equipment dropped from, but the developers stated that they're not bringing back Frontier Mountains or Warslik woods.

...I miss fighting the oozes.

They're essentially cutting out the entire northern coast of LOIO with that decision. I was hoping for a late-add of that maybe, but I did know that was highly unlikely.

I believe I remember reading in an interview, dev-chat, preview, tour, or something somewhere, that Kaesora had been destroyed and was no longer inhabitable. I do remember reading that it wasn't going to be around for such and such a reason, which I can't remember. The first thing that comes to mind is that it was hit w/ a chunk or Luclin, or sank further (read: all the way) into the ground and therefore couldn't be accessed by the playable races anymore.Lol, after proof-reading that I realized that I have no proof or evidence to back it up, and it is entirely possible I am thinking of something else. So, take it for what it is....all I'm saying is that I seem to remember reading somewhere that it was destroyed and thought I would share

Looking around the Fens, it seems to me that Kaesora should be right about where the Bellywhumpers are...given the Burynai's fondness of excavation, if they so desired, I could see the devs having them uncover an entrance to Kaesora in the mountains behind the Bellywhumpers there.

That said, I highly doubt it's going to happen.

Now lets take a look at the Field of Bone map from EQlive. I've taken the liberty to point out a general area of changes that happened to FoB over the last 500 years with a rough comparison.

Now, Despite what I've drawn onto the old FoB map, I believe that the entrance to the Emerald Jungle, now the Kunzar Jungle, is still in it's general location, just now moved a bit further south from what it used to be.

I believe that Kaesora has been completely destroyed, enveloped by the mountains, or just plain lost for good, in the blackened mountain area on the EQ2 map.

Emperor Rile was the iksar ruler that placed Chosooth in charge of that tower of torment during the Elder Age. However, this does not mean that Chosooth was a creation of Rile. Most vampires that exist within the Iksar Empire are the result of Venril Sathir's foray into the necromantic arts.

Kaesora was an ancient temple built in the Field of Bone in the early ages of the Iksar Empire. Xalgoz, a sarnak vampire and Sathir loyalist, would not inhabit the ruins of the ancient temple until the Age of Turmoil.

It must also be mentioned that, although Kurn's Tower was named after the then existing warlord Kurn Machata, he did not oversee its operations. Kurn Machata was based in Warslik's Wood where he led an extremely sadistic and bloody campaign against the giants. Chosooth was placed charge of all operations of a second tower that would duplicate the terror of the Warslik's Wood tower. The second tower of torture was originally referred to as, simply, the Kurn. This became confusing to historians. Many placed Kurn Machata in Kurn's Tower and Chosooth in Kaesora. Evidence of Chosooth would be found within the palace of the temple city Kaesora. He no doubt spent time there since it was adjacent to the Kurn.

Since Beta started...

...sorry.

Smart-*** comments aside, He's now the boss mob at the deepest part of Karnor's Castle. I haven't been down to see him yet so I don't know if he has a story to tell.

I didn't get close enough to engage him, he's a ring event that can be pretty rough if you don't know how to handle it...but he seems to be having a meeting/conversation with a servant/ambassador of mayong. perhaps his allegiance has shifted away from Venril.
