Hello.

I must say, I love this class. My boyfriend started out as one to begin with, so I decided to try it.

I've noticed while fighting I miss almost -every- time I attack. I'm just wondering if this is normal or not, because I really don't want to play a class that has 5 trillion spells, but only 3 trillion hit.

Oh, and I'm level 17. Not sure how that could play into this problem.

Is your slashing up to speed? What level mobs are you trying to hit?

Is it your auto attack or CAs that are missing? Spells?

Note: If you are missing a lot with green mobs then somethings wrong with something.

No, not everything is maxed.

Its my spells that miss, not my auto-attack. The mobs I am trying to hit are either my level, or a level higher.

Hmm, I'm assuming you mean your spells are resisted. If that's the case it could be any number of things. Your spells skill could be a low, your spells are still apprentice level spells, or even the type of mob your fighting could be resistant to disease type damage (considering a very large portion of SK spells are disease based). There's also the matter that a lot of the SK spells do multiple things so there's more then one chance for the mob to outright resist it (i.e. snare and DD, DD and DoT, etc). I'd recommend changing the kind of mobs you're fighting and see if that helps, perhaps even go for some adept 1 spells (I HATED going any lower then adept 1 while leveling up).

Remember not to neglect your INT stat either. Being a damage dealing hybrid, a large portion of your damage comes from doing spell damage as well as melee damage so you're basically a caster in plate armor...with a sword. I don't know if that could also be a reason your seeing so many resists, but it never hurts to get add a little intel where you can get it. I think I usually got the Fighter armor (str, sta, agi) and caster jewlery (sta wis int) while I was leveling.

ADD: Somehting else I thought of is that if you run out of power, you're pretty much done for. Most of your large damaging spells are heavily dependant on power (like most tanks) so when you run out it's pretty much game over. It's not much, but if you get resisted a lot and run from encounter to encounter, yeah you'll run oop real quick and your damage takes a HUGE nose dive, not to mention your HP as well.

Something else to consider is that, in my experience...leveling an SK was very hard. Sometimes it was downright painful when you had someone else to compare your damage output to. I was sort of put out and disheartened with my SK till I was in my 50's. After I got my first tap viens at 55, my whole outlook changed...suddenly I was doing lots more damage and I really started getting "into" the class. Being most fighter type classes is tough in the beginning, but stick it out and I promise you'll start to enjoy your character a lot more later. Hope this helps =).

Yes, that was very helpful. It had already crossed my mind maybe they have high disease resists. I will try fighting other mobs when I log again.

I will also upgrade my spells to Adept I's, and see if that helps.

About the INT thing, I'm totally aware that affects it. My mains a fury, and it's INT is over 730, I'm a spell damage freak, haha.

Anyway, thanks a lot, I will def. try all this out!

Shadowknights hold much better agro in offensive stance, its a fact. Also another tip if you're soloing in offensive stance, stun the mob as often as you can inbetween lifetaps, ward yourself before a pull, and use a shield bash stun right before you cast your ward in combat to lessen the chance of being interrupted durring the 2 second casting time.Hope most of this makes sense to you, all of these tips are of course comming from a lvl 80 fully fabled Shadowknight but i don't see how that wil make all that much of a difference other then perhaps a mitigation/avoidance issue..

There is an AA (I think in the WIS line of the Crusader AAs) that gives a bonus to your skills. I know that one helped my Paladin hit a lot more reliably, both with spells and melee.

Your happy butt needs to be on your fury. That's the problem. Fury. Not SK. Fury.

Well, it was a while ago, but when I was around 18, a lot of my spells were getting resisted, it was to the point where one in three would actually not get resisted. I don't know why this happened, but it did end eventually. Maybe around 18, most of your damage spells are about to be upgraded? Would that have an effect?
