I was running 1680x1050 in EQ2 (and as my desktop display) just fine with my geforce 6600 256mb on a 22" 16:10 lcd monitor, but now that I put in a radeon hd3850, the display in EQ2 is covered in jagged edges, the UI included. I tried messing around with Catalyst, and turning on AA, but nothing changed it aside from changing the resolution. At 1440x900 there are no issues. The image looks just fine if I put at least 4x AA on, but I'd imagine it'd be less taxing on the comp with about the same image smoothness if I could get it to work again at 1680x1050 and less AA.Prescott P4 3.20ghz2GB 3200 ramEDIT: I solved it by switching back from DVI to VGA. Did you completely uninstall the nVidia drivers before installing the new card and drivers? If not it can cause conflicts and other various graphical issues. I use a program like Driver Cleaner Pro to do it myself. That way all traces are gone.

Yeah, I uninstalled, restarted, ran CCleaner, shut down, and then installed the new card. Also I went through the registry and deleted anything Nvidia. Unfortunately, I got the "Notify" error trying to install those drivers that a lot of other people seem to be getting, so I had to manually install them.

Check the settings in Catalyst then. Make sure that Catalyst AI is turned off and then you can adjust the various settings like AA.

Yeah, had that turned off. More bizarre yet... when I take a screenshot with the messed up edges at 1680x1050, the screenshot turns out looking normal...Same as when it actually looks normal in-game at 1440x900.But also, do you notice that odd white outline around the model? That's actually in-game and something I didn't have before, and I'm not sure what setting is causing it...

I solved it by switching back from DVI to VGA. Bizarre.

Hi, I've the same CPU setup like you and i'm thinking of getting my 6800GT 256MB replaced by a HD3850 512MB (AGP).From which card manufacturer did you get your HD3850? Sapphire? Club3D? PowerColour?Aside from the jagged edges, did you notice an improvement in performance with (at least) the same graphical settings?

I have the same problem on a 21.6' monitor (LG) and I changed it from DVI to VGA and it fixed my problems aswell. Everything looks so much better now, also if its just me but.. the performance is better also. (could just be cause it looks and feels better!) thanks alot, nice find!

This has to do with Flat Panel scaling....You need to find an option in Catalyst Control Center which statesAlternate DVI mode...Also, look for Reduce DVI freuency and play with the settingsHere is a good article about DVI<a href="http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Talkroblem_with_DVI_throughput" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">LINKOther issues can be bad DVI cables, wrong DVI cables, or doing the infamous DVI to VGA adaptor...You need a decent cable, and the right cable is all.Good luck guys..DVI FTW!!!
