My Main is a necro. I've never played a warlock, but it seems like they are a necro/wizard combo, focused on AoE DPS instead of individual DPS. Seemed like an interesting class to try out. I've spent a couple hours picking through some posts on the forums for information, but here is my situation:I want to duo with this char, with no immediate intention of grouping or raiding. I'll have a mentored down Fury grouped with him, to cover the healing aspect (it seems like this class gets no lifetap or heal, only health --> power). A lot of builds I see mention a lot about deaggro. I don't want that, I want him to be the primary target. I can always respec later if I decide to go group/raid. I also want to enjoy the game at a slower pace, do more quests, not just grind grind to level 80.Due to this, I think his primary focus will be defense and DPS, with little concern about hate reduction.RaceI picked a Erudite, due to some of the new racial traits (2% crit chance increase, 5% reduction in cast times, etc). For my Racial Bonuses, if erudites even get this one in specific, should I focus on Health instead of Power Pool since I will be taking a beating? I will still be picking Int for my stat bonuses.AAsSo, what would be the best AA build for my duo char? I was thinking Str Line 4/6/4/8/2, Wis Line 4/8/6/8. This would put me at 50 points exactly, and I could go back later with RoK 20 AAs and polish up anything else I needed. I can't quite decide on Warlock lines though. I was thinking explosive lines to the end for Aftershock, then Hastenings line to the end for Focused Casting. Question for this is: Which do I start with? Sorcerer Tree, or Warlock tree? Also, do you think my selections are any good?GearI only see posts about good T7 gear. Any suggestions for lower levels? Any sets I should focus on? I started off in Timorous Deep to do the new RoK Quest line gear, as I heard its far superior to any starting area. I also saw a nice looking robe off Varsoon which seems to proc a 50% heal. That could be helpful if I'm getting battered, even though I have a healer with me. I would think power isn't going to be a problem with all the power regen procs we get. Any gear that I should be aware of that sticks out of the crowd?TechniquesAny specific strategies or casting orders I should use at lower levels? I hear a lot about casting orders at T7 or T8. Not a lot of posts regarding lower to mid levels. I don't know if root/nuking is my style. I'd like to be able to plow into a group of (probably non-heroic) mobs and AoE them to death in a quick manner, while filling in with DD or Single target DoTs to polish off a swarm.StatsInt is king, I would think. More int = more damage. But after that, should I focus on Stamina? Agility? I don't know if its better to have more HP, or more chance to avoid getting hit altogether. Do I even need to worry about Wis? I would think power pool isn't that important as long as you can regenerate it quickly.Upgrade PriorityWhich spells should I focus on getting Adept III/Masters of at low to mid level? I have a sage who will be making App 4 of every spell, but I am also collecting rares to upgrade certain spells for this character. Do I focus on making the Poison Cloud line (complete PBAoE) AD3? Should I worry more about upgrading Encounter based AOE spells? Does DD or single target DoT fall to the end of the line or should it be priority? Again, I'm looking at wiping out large crowds of even con or blue mobs quickly. Thanks in advance for all the help!

its hard to think what i would do and in what order if i was levelling as AAs were introduced after i was near the level cap but i think i would certainly stick with a few priorities.I think agil is the most important AA line from the KoS tree. The quicker you cast, the less chance you have of being interrupted and as you are duoing with a fury, his main priority will be to keep you alive whilst you burn mobs down asap. So, for that reason. Id say agil. For the same reason, id say Hastenings is probably most applicable for you to concentrate on from the EoF tree. Again, speed is of the essence, so you can burn mobs down asap while the fury heals you. They would be my priority. You say you want your warlock to be the tank also, and do not care about deaggro as its just a duo setup, for that reason, id consider the stamina tree next. Ive never tried it as ive always been agil/wis and now agil/wis/str but for your particular need, it will certainly makes the furies life easier, in keeping you up. If you feel like you want to push your dps higher and work your fury hard, ditch that and opt for str or wis instead. Gear, i really dont know as things have changed since i was levelling up, but i always went for int/stamTechniques,id say, mainly, be aware that warlocks dont really come into their own till post 50, but up to then, generally, dont use AoE spells on single target. Its not efficient, time/damage ratio. Apart from when you have focused casting and Apocalypse at 50 which is viable on a single target. Warlock dps is improved in subtle ways, spells like corrupt gift and netherous realm dont really seem like they do that much but they make a big difference. Use your full spell selection whenever you can. Post 50, broodlings (be aware there is an issue with these atm, see thread called *Grey Broodlings* for details, apocalypse will make your dps much better.in order, personally i would do:1)KoS agil line, 2)EoF Hastenings line, 3)KoS Wis line4)EoF Explosives line, 5)KoS Str line6)EoF Propogations line 7)EoF leftover points, be handy to throw them into enhance magi shielding.if you decide to raid etc, then respec to propagations/hastenings/explosives in EoF and agil/wis/str.(i omitted catalyst from str tree as im seeing a lot of +crit items in RoK but thats just personal pref)Upgrade priority, if you're looking to burn down large grps, then yes, AE spells take precedent. Absolution line and Posion Cloud line first. DD & DoTs next.

If you are going to have a fury with you every step of the way you will find that a warlock is an amazing class to get things done fast. Pull large rooms of solo mobs or large heroic groups and burn them down with ease.

As a warlock your primary stat will be int. Boost your int up as high as possible... the faster you burn things down the less time they have to kill you.

As a solo lock who wants to do damage I would say go wis line first. Get 47482. You get a nice little regenerating ward which is a great help. You get freehand to help ya burst high and kill fast when you need it most. All your spell dmg is boosted by 4% and you get reduced power costs. Being that it's just you and a fury it won't hurt to have the extra power associated with this concept.

Next I would go Agi line. Agi line offers you universal fast casting and recast times for all your spells not just select spells like hastenings would. Get your agi line to 46482.

Your final line on your sorc tree will be STR4448 but hold off on that for now. The spell crit will come in handy when you get closer to your aa cap but you'll want to head over to warlock tree before you get your spell crits.

Go down hastenings line. Grab 5 points in both dots, distortion and single target stun (3 points in single target quick blast... cause it's required) and get your focused casting for quick burns and get out of jail free situations.

Since in the low levels you won't have a lot of procing gear you don't need propagation just yet. Go down explosives line getting 5 in your pbaoe first, then absolution then stun. As you don't get devastation or rift until higher lvls I would stop at that point.

I agree with the erudite race being best for mage so you got that good there.

While fighting cast your gift line right before your pull and open up with your dots then your big hits.

Use aura line every time it's up. Stun as needed while using your single target stun also for dmg.

... gotta head out, hope that helps for now.

Also, on the robe from Varsoon...that is a 1 time deal on the heal. After it happens, it is just a robe with good stats.
