you knew someone was gonna bring this up after ROK...

so, now that the changes are live, what are the people with the new gear finding out? with all the + double attack items out there, and new gear, and changes along with level 80...where does the wisdom line stand?

anyone out there played around yet or done any number crunching?

from what I can see after I hit 80 and spec back away from the STR/STA setup (dont say a word, I am tanking for a duo to get to 80, no comments about what a bad setup for dps it is please), from what I can tell I will be falling back to STR/WIS...reason is simply because I have horrible luck with drops and lottos and ussually have very poor gear, and never had the weapons to make dual wielding STR/AGI outparse STR/WIS.

so, i beseech you, number crunchers of the forums, enlighten me!

I'm not going to crunch any numbers for free. What I see is this: If you take double attack out of the equation, STR-AGI-WIS with a decent 'hard-hitting' weapon is still an optimal setup, it offers formidable dps with some nice bonuses to avoidance to use when soloing or ripping aggro from your main tank. I am sure a 1h setup will offer superior hurricane damage, due to the mainhand in a DW setup being slowed, but at a significant dent to single target dps. Swashbucklers don't need more AoE damage, though, so I don't see that as a huge issue. (str 4-4-6-8-1, agi 4-4-4-8, wis 4-4-7-8-1) With a dual wield build, you're forced to point your extra 20 points into basically useless abilities, if you go all the way down WIS 'just' to get Coule, you wasted a great deal of points in that line at the cost of not having either Traumatic Swipe or Sailwind. If you fill out STR and AGI, WIS offers absolutely nothing because you won't have enough points to get Coule, and the STA/INT lines are deplorable for raid dps. That being said, a good way to spend those extra points, when you already have all the dps-upgrading candy, is to spend a bit into the STA line for raw stamina and +max health%, with a little bit left over for a passive +int boost and an extra attack to prep for Brazening. (str 4-4-6-8-1, agi 4-6-4-8-1, sta 4-4-8, int 4-1) Now, factor in double attack. With my current (1h build listed above) setup, I'm at 92% DA with RoTM proc and Fortissimo. Looking at the itemization in RoK, it would not be far fetched to see about 120-140% double attack. So clearly, to make good use of the items we've been offered, dual wield is the way to go. There is another side to that sword as well. What if I take that 92% and instead of looting a bunch of gear with double attack bonuses, loot a bunch of gear that has crit bonuses or +combat art damage instead? The damage could be comparable from both aa lines, but your choices for gear will be severely limited, however your choice of a weapon is quite a bit easier. I always enjoyed only having to loot ONE weapon to increase my dps, rather than two. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Just my 2cp.PS. I lost ALOT of avoidance by switching to dual wield, something to consider when soloing and farming instances.

Does Coule really help that much?

Reason for asking is even without Coule, my stats for Piercing and Slashing are over +100 each over the base. Assuming 5 points per level, that is 20 levels of points.

Just curious since I have no idea how all that works but never had to worry about it till they added the extra 20 AA points to spend

Not sure how high it scales to level, but +20ish combat skills essentially removes the penalties from each of your stances whilst adding a significant amount of skill. I can't speak for ROK stuff yet but Coule brought a swashbuckler with master stance to 416 s/p, so you could essentially get to the 455 cap with just the HO buff and a few +skill mod items, without having to depend on group buffs (dirge/guardian). It's invaluable imo, especially soloing.

I have found that str/agil (Dual wielding) is more effective then wis/str/agil when your gear is sub par. With mostly legendary / treasured gear using the lvl 72 4.0 delay mastercrafted weapons I parse around 300-500 more then when I was using the wis line. I commonly parse about around 1300 in groups. I was lucky to break 1000 with the wis line.

wow....im STA spec'd now, and pull 800-2k dps tanking...EOF legendary set armour with darkruned gloves for haste buff...i use dark linger or empowered ghoulbane...with wisdom line i was pulling 1500-3k...i tried dual wielding and was more in the 1200-2700 range...

zone wide in raids for me before the expansion i would pull 200 more dps w/ 1 hander rather than dual wield.

hrm, well, maybe i am geared wrong or doing something wrong...
