<span class="postbody">I'm all for the idea of getting xp primarily from quest, and the "vision" posted here by a senior developer said so as much.I log in today and find- yes, killing a lvl 73 mob DOES NOT MOVE the xp bar, ok fine, BUT, now quest in Fens are BARELY giving 2% xp ???Have to make up your minds now- Theres no way right now of leveling with this latest stealth patch <img src="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/images/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />" />Please someone look into this <img src="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/images/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />" /></span>

Actually I'm 100% against quest grinding. This expansion has been nothing but disappointment for me. Instead of having a lot of fun in groups and enjoying other peoples company I've been delegated to hours of quest grinding. I was looking forward to exploring Seb, grouping in Charisis, etc. Instead I'm in the same outdoor zones, doing the same quests as everyone else, over, and over, and over and over and over and over and over again. I can't even group with the majority of them because they are on different quests or different quest levels.I pretty much have made a pact to myself. If quest exp is not uber nerfed next patch (and I mean like 25 solo quests = 5% exp), and dungeon exp straightened out, I cancel my account running for over 7 years (EQ and EQ2). Grouping in Karnors POST exp change, netting 10% in two hours with rest exp is NOT encouraging. If i wanted to quest nonstop, I'll play Oblivion, Morrowind, Final Fantasy 8, or something else that I enjoy playing solo.

Sorry but as one who raids, groups. and solo's I find this a bit nicer that I can get to 80 doing quests and not grinding. I will save the grind for after I hit 80 doing factions that I don't have maxed, older quests I stopped doing due to being at 100AA. Unfortunately, no matter what SoE does, they wont please everyone. That's the nature of the beast. /rant off Keep up the great work SoE!

I do have to say that having quests be the way to make the fastest levels, get amazing AA, get some of the best gear (70-76 at least), AND make crazy pp...seems a bit extreme. There really should be some balance. The (legendary, not that random junk)loot we have gotten out of karnors at level 73 isn't even close to the stuff people are pulling spending the same amount of time doing quests. People were outleveling, gaining AA faster, and getting MUCH better gear doing those solo quests. It seems like there just needs to be some balance.

stop crying nerf the solo quests.. pls... just because some of them give nice rewards doesnt mean all of them do. lets face it, half of them give cloth forearms or gloves, yeah great.. lol besides that, you should blame looted quest updates and other stones that get laid into the way of grouping and not the fact that soe made soloing a viable playstyle. yes, loot in karmors is subpar, but that doesnt justify a nerf of soloing. bump up the loot in there. besides, quest exp isnt all that great... yes, turning in a quest might give a lot, but, you have to factor in the slow downs too, the harsh competition over quest mobs, the inability to get the quest updates for everyone in the group / two / more box at once, the absence of walkthroughs, the time it takes to figure out the quests....

If you are taking more risk fighting a mob, you should be rewarded accordingly for it - i.e. Raiders get those items that everyone wants: FABLED items. Group mobs should reward groups with slightly elevated experience and better items. In reality, and in RoK, they do, just its rarer and Karnor's is, I think, a bit of an exception.I've personally solo'ed all the way to level 77 but I'm finding I'm running out of quests so it's going to have to be grouping to get the job done (Level 80). I don't personally care whether I have to do solo quests or group quests. I like the questing, after all, this is Ever<b>QUEST</b> 2. I'm glad the Devs have made the expansion this way - questing is what the game should be about. It provides meaning to what you're doing. Sitting in a dungeon simply grinding on mobs is not fun after a while, especially when no quest is involved. Hey, I've done it too (to get to 70).

So they nerfed the solo quest exp already?Sigh... I wouldn't have minded had ALL of my friends not ground their way to 80 over the last few weeks (Which isn't an unreasonable time span to make 10 levels btw.)...So now if I do the same things I won't even be close...That'll [Removed for Content] me off.If you were going to nerf it, you should have left it that way to begin with. I highly prefer an even playing field, not one that was raised for people who aren't BUSY during the holiday season like me.

Going back to the OP, this doesn't sound like a stealth nerf to me without more data. I've solo quested to 79 so far and still have plenty of solo quests left to get to 80, I'm sure. But it's not like they've all given the same amount of XP thus far. In the same zone, some quests of the same level would give me 2-3%, some less than 1, and some more than 3%. It varies from quest to quest. When you get a quest, for example, charging you to go find Mr. Dude X, who is the next quest-giver in a faction line, that isn't going to give you jack squat for XP. When you finish most repeatable quests, seems to be the same deal there. It would be interesting to know if there really is a reduction in quest XP coming. I expected it to take a month to get to 80, at least for me, this has been kind of a joke.

Personally I think they have done a good job in balance. Want to grind, go grind. Want to level faster for the early levels, do the quest, simple. Soloing has always been the most difficult playstyle because its all on you to accomplish it.Most of the heroic quest I have seen start around 80-83. Having a group to do content that begins at 80 seems about right to me. Lets face it, how challenging is KC going to be for a full group of 80's?? I am thinking FARMING material so yeah, its a quest zone. There are quite a few quests in there BTW.The rewards only get nicer and gear more uber as you move through this expansion. Dont forget we have Epic weapons yet to come. I hope you dont think we have seen the tip of the iceberg yet with rok.

<p>Let me get this right...The OP mentions that it appears that questing xp has been stealth-nerfed...then people start stating that they will leave the game because the quest xp is greater than grinding...with me so far?....</p><p> Now....take a look at the name of the game...for those unable/unwilling to make that effort...I`ll spell it out for you....it is called EVER QUEST...which, to me, means that the primary importance of the game is/should be based on questing....if it was grinding, then surely the title would have been Evergrind...still with me?...</p><p>Nerfing, or even stealth-nerfing, the xp gained on quests should never happen...SOE should have people on their Beta and test servers who`s primary role is to get the levels as quickly as they possibly can, this would give them an idea as to how long it will take people to reach that new cap..and they can adjust the xp gain before release to give the right amount of xp based on how long they want people to take in reaching that cap. It is not rocket science, it is called `Research and Development` in most companies. </p><p>To be perfectly honest, releasing an xpansion in which everyone will hit cap within a month, when the next scheduled expansion is not for 12 months, is the way to lose players, not gain them. People sitting around stating in chat channels that they are `bored` is not good advertising.</p><p> I must agree though, that this expansion does lack the opportunity to group with others and enjoy the social aspects of the game, which is a shame. There are players out here, like myself, for whom this is their only social contact (mine being through physical disability...not through being a `cellar-living mummies boy` as one person put it) and I enjoy the social side of the game a lot, this expansion takes that away, unfortunately.</p>

While not impossible, I really doubt they stealth nerfed quest / solo combat XP on Test. Not just because Lyndro said they didn't: <a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?start=0&topic_id=396019" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...19</a>but if they changed the XP, they wouldn't make it a stealth change on Test and not on Live. What's the point of that? When they changed the heroic content XP, they just did it. The point of putting changes out on Test is to Test them. They don't need to Test XP quantity changes, and if they don't mention them, they aren't being tested anyway. I haven't done anything but solo so far - save for a few unrewarding quests in the new SoS - Karnor's Castle, and I'm level 79 and have replaced a number of EoF Fabled gear. So I agree with alshell thus far in that apart from raiding - which also sounds like it's currently going to be a super duper quick progression - and then what? There's not a ton to do unless you're going to raid. It's kind of disappointing to be running the instances just for loot the first time - no AA/XP needed anymore. It was great fun running Blackscale Sepulcher or the Den at 68 and getting chunks of XP for discovery and all the slaughter. I've an open mind about it all, it just seems very . . . . odd. Such a stark departure from the past.

Since we now have another thread discussing this same issue, including a developer response, and the fact that this isn't something that is currently being tested on the Test Server, I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread. Please feel free to continue the discussion in a positive and constructive manner within the linked thread above. Also, from the sticky at the top of this forum:<b><span class="postbody"><p>"Please remember this forum is for "IN TESTING", not "issues that you have presently in live game, with your class, race or other gameplay". If you have issues with your "live" gameplay, please post within the pertinent locations for that subject. </p><p>This forum is JUST for stuff that's being tested."</p></span></b>Thank you.Morningside
