Even tried getting a mob on me. Was completely helpless every fight. I was amazed. This one knew his/her stuff.

23 second fight and I was helpless the entire time. I know not to use CAs with reactives on and to try and get something to break my mez, but I just sat there like a bump on a log =)

I've figured already that there can be 2 possible ways to fight a coercer:

1. You spot him first and kill him fast interrupting all his attempts to put anything on you.

2. If the coercer saw you and managed to mez and put all his reactives on you then snare him and sprint away till you are out of combat then evac or whatever... There is no way you can cure 6-8 different spells that he puts on you. But on the good side their own dps is too low to effectively kill you if you are not fighting them and running away.

I used to hate fighting coercers on my Berzerker, but i could do it and win a good deal of the time, even after the initial mez/dotstack. It took having more burst dps than the reactives and relentlessly attacking the coercer and praying that he died before the dots killed yourself. Unyeilding will and Vision of Madness would help a bit, but often i had to have both those to take one out in the time it took me to kill myself twice.

It's much better to just run from them.

If a coercer manages to land mez on you with a reasonable amount of hp left, just walk away. Anything you try to do, minus ranged autoattacks, will kill you.

This is why I always duo with a Brigand on my Coercer -- you either fight and die, or let a Brigand wail on you as you try to walk (not sprint!) away.
If you get the jump you win. If they get to stack dots and reactives on you because they got the initial mezz, just run out of range of them, WITHOUT sprint, until everything is either cured off you or wares off. Its really not THAT tough, if you think about how you are fihting them they are one of the easiest classes to kill. You probably died real quci because as soon as their mezz wore off you started dpsing them.

I've been playing this game a year and still have no idea how to kill coercers. Even if I get the jump on them and I land my stifle effects before launching my CAs, they still manage to get that annoying mezz in. Last night one of them mezzed me for 30 seconds!!! Unbelievable. Now whenever I see one I just walk away - it's not worth the hassle. I have yet to see a coercer (at least on Venekor) stand and fight. They ALWAYS mezz and run away.

Like people have said.. no reactive coercer dps is so pathetic that if you get loaded up with reactives, walk away and come back once they're off, your health regen will stop you from losing anything but a miniscule amount of life. If they have a pet with them, well, that's a completely different kettle of fish.
It actually completely depends on what kind of pet it is. You get a corpse candle, or one of those nasty undead sarnak thingys from Fens and your in for a fight, but some cheesy [Removed for Content] animal or something doesnt make that much of a difference. Main reason is because you can stealth and they detarget, and wont reattack until the coercer clicks attack again. For brigands thugs they can never retarget unless you hit and dont kill them ^_^

yea, they are tough when my freedom of mind only works once during the entire fight. And that pet hitting me for 5K of damage each time really blows. All I can say is hope for a bad corecer or get the miricle from bristbane.

Here is a example of how deadly coercers can be. Yeah its a little dated but still fun to watch.
Just wait till they start 1 shotting you with exploited pets

I am not going to give anyone advice on how to kill me. I will say this tho: The advice about a bow was annoyingly wise.

The only way to kill him is to either stun and use CAs, or chase after him with ranged attacks - longbows work best. The latter is better -- and is the only way I've found to effectively kill these [Removed for Content].

Exur...a better question..

What AA line up is best for Coercers? My lowbie coercer is working it's way up, but I only have the Chronomancer line available. I hear it gets better and can see that it gets better (good vids) but I guess it just take time to learn more...

I love the WIS for RoK and for PvP. I feel like a troub in pvp now! How fun to use charm as a coercer in pvp. WIS also helps as I'm just using all my T7 Masters till I ding 80 and invest in upgrades. Any tier for that matter it's nice, as we are always a resist away from dieing. I miss Counterblade, but that was most helpful against mages.. and they are all about manashield now anyway, so need to adjust your tactics.

Not sure why anyone would want the extra charm at the end, but I've not tested it so I can't say there. The 8 points in the last ability is really a must IMO.

Easy to use in pvp and a 16 second charm is way nice. (almost as nice as being a troub in pvp... almost.) Instead of mezzing adds, charm them. Macro '/pet attack' to your Stroke and you have quick, easy additional dps over a mezz'ed mob just sitting there eating up space.

Hmmm......My Paladin eats Coercers like a mid morning snack. The half dozon or so I have fought them went so badly for them I felt sorry. Not sure if its because I am a caster and can get rid of all their pesky spells on me......shrug.
