OK, I realize I'm only a lowly Dirge, but it seems to me these mobs in RoK are hitting pretty darn hard to be solo content. I'm not in your average gear................... entirely legendary gear should not allow these mobs that are blue con to me to hit like a freight train.

Well, my monk went in there at level 70.... but she had to be very careful and take breaks between the fights to regain power/health. But doing that... I am doing very nice there. Femke.

Yes, this tier is very hard. When I first started with my conjy, I knew that there would be a lot of complaints due to how tough it is. I haven't died soloing, but I have come close, which has never happened on that toon. However, the rewards for the quests are also a lot better than most tiers, so it pans out in the risk vs. reward concept.

My rule of thumb in Kylong is to approach solo mobs the same way I'd approach a similar-con triple-up anywhere else. Duoing with a healer they become easy prey, but solo they're a handful. I've also noticed that T7 armor isn't cutting it. My berserker was wearing T7 mastercrafted, and I had a much easier time of it after switching out the xegonite for the treasured plate pieces from the docks quests. The level of the armor vs. the mobs does make a difference. One thing: make sure you've reset your character traits and M2 selections. I've seen some people who've missed that being reset, and it makes you unexpectedly squishy.

Also note, that if your gear is subpar upon entering the new high end zones, that you can expect to be getting repeated upgrades (well most classes) from the quests. A few +spell damage / +CA damage / overloaded heals, etc and the mobs suddenly don't feel so overpowering. You will get more then enough plat from the quest rewards to be able to at least outfit yourself in adept Is. When the market settles a bit more, you'll find that the rewards are probably enough to get yourself in a decent amount of adept IIIs. So as hard as it may start off, just keep at it, and you will find yourself geared out enough to handle it in due time.

My Fury has soloed from 1 to 65 with the standard tactics of melee and casting. At 65 he went to Kylong Plains and accumulated too much xp debt for it to be worthwhile. At 66 he went back and it was better, but it made more sense to complete Barren Sky and Bonemire. Today he went back again at 67 and he's just levelled to 68 with only a couple of deaths. He can now solo 68's and 69's with comparitive ease and 70's with a fair wind.

BUT, so far as tactics are concerned, gone is melee and casting, now it's root and casting. Melee is an absolute no-no as far as Kunark is concerned unless you are at a strong level in relation to the mobs and very well equipped. At least, that's my take on it. Rooting and casting works provided you are at a close enough level and sufficiently maxed out in eg Subjugation to enable you to limit the resists.

Well, I don't know about Dirges, but a competent Swashy shouldn't have trouble soloing anywhere.

We're just that freekin' GOOD.

Laughs uproariously as Femke puts the pompous swashie in his place, then strums her guitar to remind Livejazz that Dirges may not hit as hard, but they can do far more things.
