My apologies in advance for the graphics quality. I run at High Quality, and would run higher but EQ2 has been crashing to desktop if I do.Hmm... where have I seen these cases before....?

Ah, so we will indeed be seeing the Stone of the Shissar show up in Kunark. It'll be interesting to see how exactly this storyline pans out.

Doomsday Stone... Fitting name.

You know, I'm just tossing this out here, but if each expansion keeps introducing a story involving more and more and more and more and more powerful artifacts capable of destroying the world each time, then what type of threat will they have to reveal when Odus and Velious comes out? -_-

Prismatic eggs?

Water that grants undeath?

The Qeynos Claymore?

The Soulfire?

Now the Stone of the Shissar?

Really, can't we get to a new expansion without getting there just in time to prevent some apocolyptic artifact from slipping into the wrong hands? I have no problem with getting somewhere, and just being happy with the discovery

BTW that exchange is in the first part of a quest called "Fate of Norrath", which is reputedly how the raid zones are accessed - in a particular progression.

Be careful what you wish for... the devs might decide to flip the switch on to apocalypse mode >.>

no kidding. Not only will next expansion's epic line involve an item that will blow up Norrath, but the expansion after that will blow up Norrath, kill innocent kittens, and kick sand into your ice cream at the beach.

O_o Interesting, very interesting. I'm sure once my guild starts raiding again in a while, we'll move on up to Kunark and I'll get to do this stuff

Having finished the first quest (Fate of Norrath) I returned to Fiddy to continue our conversation. I would post the screenshot except that I had turned graphics up to extreme to get better details, then afterwards left the zone and promptly crashed within 2 minutes (before taking screens of the conversation) due to EQ2 wanting more than 2GB RAM.In any event, Fiddy names the Doomsday Stone as the Greenmist Oubliette. He said that the Shissar had a prophesy of being wiped out by a green mist, so built the Greenmist Oubliette to counteract/absorb the attack. Unfortunately (for them) the artifact was not complete when the mist came. It was, however, functional enough to contain a portion of the Green Mist. That is the reason the artifact is dangerous - someone who controls it could wittingly/unwittingly release the Green Mist.edit: Taking a closer look at the globe with extreme quality, it was clearly a pre-Shattering version of the map.

Curious where the prophesy came from and if they did it once, what would stop them from doing it again

Has anyone taken a peak at the Peacock club? Would be interesting seeing if there's any updates with the expansion but my current main doesn't have access.

Im kinda rusty on my Fiddy Bobick knowledge.

Isnt he like the guy in the Freethinkers or something? A refresher would help.

His history in EQ2 started with the original release. There was mention of him in the Obelisk of Lost Souls. The Shadowmen considered him a vital source of knowledge, and he was to be protected/preserved in the event that the "final phase," or something like that, started.

He popped up again in the Peacock Club in Desert of Flames. He was in there with the Freethinkers, playing with his two moppet dolls that he called Antonius and Lucan (which he named after his former adventuring partners.) He repeatedly denied being THE Fiddy Bobick, saying there's no way he could have lived this long if he were... but the way he said it was strange, and has raised the question that the Shadowmen may have a stronger grasp on him than suspected.

Now he's popped up in RoK, and has us chasing down the "Doomsday Stone." My guess is that, in the end of this quest, we'll find out that he has been compromised and assimilated by the Shadowmen, and they are using his body as a host. We'll probably end up bringing the Doomsday Stone right to his doorstep

...which is what the third quest is set out to be. One of the items you pick up in the first quest is the Greenmist Orb. Fiddy now claims that the orb is part of the Greenmist Oubliette, and with the orb the oubliette can be obtained from its present location - a raid zone that coincides with Chelsith. The plan then is to lose the oubliette in oblivion. It is all sounding very Lord of the Ring-ish. Item that contains a portion of some very strong thing (the one ring had a portion of Sauron's soul). A quest to obtain the item before others can use it to lay waste to the land, and a plan to destroy it/make it inaccessible.Fiddy starts using 'we'. Thing is, he isn't referring to you and him, he is referring to himself and his moppets. If Fiddy isn't controlled by the shadowmen, then he is seriously around the bend.

Confirmed...

We beat Chamber of Destiny to progress the "Fate of Norrath" quest recently. You use the Greenmist Orb on the Oubliette to weaken the exiled fishmen's "god" the Leviathan, then defeat him. When you're done, you head back to Fiddy... and then you must save him from a Shadow creature that is trying to control him.

Yah pretty much the final quest after you save old Fiddy is to head into Veeshan's Peak to reclaim the Doomsday Stone. However if you really read closely all his dialogue the stone isn't really a Doomsday Device, he states that it absorbed a portion of the Green Mist and that it has the power to release it on a large scale, not global or continental but possibly on the scale to decimate an entire city. Basically it is just a really powerful artifact, not really something that in one use could wipe out all life.

My guild finally got enough people flagged that we did Chamber of Destiny last night.Once you defeat the shadow critter (which was one of those leggy ones, not a shadowman), Fiddy relates what he remembers. Seems he's been under control of the shadows for a good long time - his last clear memory of Rivervale is prior to the Nightbloods and other monsters moving in. It was in Maj'Dul that the shadow controlling him learned of the Greenmist Oubliette, and it was hoping that the raid would destroy it and themselves there, so that there wouldn't be a weapon that the natives of Norrath could use against the shadowmen. The last part is to recover the Chelsith Stone, which requires dealing with Trakanon (at least this time it isn't Naggy). The final quest reward is a house item - the Chelsith Stone.

Why am I not surprised that that sigil is on the stone? One of the great mysteries of the lore forums is "said to be a key to preventing Ages End."Sigh.
