Ok, back about a year and a half ago when pvp first was released. I played for awhile, and I remeber lower level duels actually taking awhile and being rather strategic, as you leveled up it became less and less so. I quit and have come back now. I have been building my character up slowly. I have locked combat xp and I am doing a lot of questing, getting AA's and crafting my own apprentice IV's ... I have reasonably good equipment and as a level 14 shadow knight the only thing I can accomplish is getting my [Removed for Content] hand to me.

Even lower level players that con blue to me can lay me out dead within five seconds. After getting to level 14 I immedietly saw another level 14 appraoch me for pvp. I thought, "cool this should be a fair fight" and I was killed literally instantly, maybe 3 seconds at most and I was dead. I had time to use two skills and it was over.

When did pvp turn into this? What happened to actual long duels that were relativly stragegic? Now all it seems is to be twinked out players that can kill people instantly. What am I doing wrong here

Craft some adept3s and you'll do a little better, but a 14 SK against a group, no matter what color, will be owned.

And what about the even con who attacked me head on and owned me 3 seconds flat? I was pretty sure there was no one else but I could be wrong.

The solo was probably a warden or templar, they get some pretty sick nukes in T2 around 14 iirc, even as an M2 I think, though could be wrong on that score. But really, SKs are pretty [Removed for Content] in T2 though your blessing is good, once you get to about 25-28 you'll start getting some more spells to use and will get scarier. I have a 28 SK who can solo almost any yellow or lower conning peeps, unless they are a druid, then I just weep and try my best. So, as a wrap up, prolly a priest, who are OP in T2 anyway, and you'll be [Removed for Content] till you lvl up some. Probably.

If you don't have the Kunark quest reward gear you fail all pvp in T2 and should just unlock your toon race to 22 and buy the MC gear.

Your main problems are gear, and thinking that PvP servers are about dueling. Apprentice 4's will get you nowhere if you're trying to lock and stay in a tier. Even if you level up fast, app4/adept1 is the bare bones minimum that you need to have. Same goes for gear. If you're a level 14 in quest gear from the newbie zones, you're going to die. Get all your gear mastercrafted, and upgrade your spells at adept 3 or masters, and you'll see some improvement in your survivability.PvP servers are also not about dueling. Some people hold organized dueling events sometimes, but PvP servers are about PvP all the time, even if you're engaged with a mob, talking to a quest npc, harvesting, waiting for the boat, regardless if you're ready for the other guy or not. Dueling is on the PvE servers, where you /duel someone, and they can get ready, wait for their temp spells to come back up, and accept the duel in their own sweet time. So that even con guy probably didn't "approach you for PvP", chances are he came over there to put your face in and take your money.

The main difference between pvp when it was first released and now is that back then hardly anyone was twinked, now that over a year has passed most people have higher level characters feeding them plat so these lower level characters are running around with masters and fabled gear.

In fact, my lowbie farmers have paid for my high toons gear.

No that's not all. pvp is just an absolute joke now. lvl 17 with 16 AA's, I have most of my skills adept III and have spent about a platinum on good gear and I still get owned by blue's as an SK... Even just not I got jumped by a green and 2 greys, I couldn't even kill one of them before they owned me in 10 seconds.

I was a shadow knight before and it seems like pvp used to be more balanced, more strategic then it is now a year a half later. Either I suck horrible or twinking is way to out of hand. I'm decently twinked myself and if blue,s greens and greys can school me then there is something wrong here.

Well, you shouldn't be surprised that greys can effectively do you damage. There have been many changes to pvp since you left. And in one of them SOE nerfed the level difference penalties in pvp. Before it was almost impossible to hit a red player. But after this change the percentage of misses and resists and moreover mitigation of your attacks against red players is very low. And it seems that this change only applies to pvp because I cannot kill a red heroic mob. At the same time I can kill people who are red and orange to me wearing T7 gear.

Another example, before RoK a grey to me lvl 59 wizard landed an ice comet on me for 4k. I had full pvp set and my cold resists were about 6k. So go figure...

Old time pvpers now that it's dangerous to full around with twinked greys.

SK is good enough in t2 pvp (except for druids, you cant kill them) to own 1v1 pretty much every single class out there if used properly

I understand the occasional wait untill you fight a creature and then attack when you are down, but some times it is more like jogging to meet your fate in one swift stroke. I would love to at least have enough time to scratch the man/woman that is killing me!

I agree PvP has made a change for the worse.

Its was a blast when the servers first came up; everyone was broke with crappy gear but just wanted to fight. Back then everyone wasn't twinked so it wasn't uncommon for fights to last until everyone was out of power and had to resort to auto-attack, firing spells as they became available.

You can still have fun with PvP now; its just different. You have to do a lot of preparation before you start fighting. You have to make sure have enough coin to have mastercrafted gear and at least adept IIIs on your best spells. You also need to get as many AA points as you can and make sure you using them wisely.

Not that it should, but it takes a lot of coin just to be competitive.
