Getting EQ2 to work is extremely frustrating. At first I tried Play the Fea and I would load that up and it would be updating and updating and updating and updating..i realize its a big game but I had it updating for more that 12 hours. Then I bought the EQ2 All-in-one package online and downloaded the game from there. Now, I load up the game with Everquest2.exe and it loads up the same way as "play the fae" would, and then it started to update again, thats understandable. So the update finished....and then I clicked the red "play" button once again and.....no luck...an error would come up mentioning the launcher.exe or it would say "The options definition file failed to load. This generally indicates that your patch was corrupted for some reason. Try a complete scan, and if that doesn't help then you may need to reinstall." Ok, well, i tried a "scan" and it goes through the scan bs and then starts downloading more [Removed for Content]. And every time I Load up that game it says that more stuff needs to be downloaded/updated and it updates for HOURS before I can see the red play button. and everytime i click it i get an error. I am sick of spending a lot of time trying to get this game to work properly.

System information would be great. If you're using Vista, make sure you run the patcher as an administrator.

Im on windows xp, no vista.

Also, the stuff its downloading every single time I run the game is stuff Ive already seen it download before. It doesn't make any sense to me, it keeps downloading the same stuff.... I load up the game, log in, then it does the scan, goes up to 100% and then it continues to download and "decompress" more crap. Im afriad that even tho this will finish and I could click play, and NOT have an error, when I exit out of the game and bring it up again I will just have to download more stuff for a few hours before I can see the red play button come up.

I also heard that if u load up the game by everquest2.exe it goes right into the game and u can login and play....but for me, it loads up just like the launcher does. Brings up the small page where it shows some adds and the update thing on the left and it says My Account, Preferences, Support, etc...

Still no system info besides the fact that you're running XP. Post your dxdiag?

ok, here...I JUST finished the download and I pressed play and this came up: "LaunchPad.exe" "LaunchPad.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." and it has the "Debug" button and the "send Error Report" and "Don't Send"..
