Something I'm just curious about. How does EQ2 deal with wide screen. If you have a wide screen monitor do you actually see more or does it just stretch out what you would see on a normal screen?

It depends on the resolution you run it at - e.g. I run at 1650 x 1080 on my widescreen and do see more of the surroundings than if I run at 1280 x 1024 on a regular monitor. But I could run the widescreen monitor at 1280 x 1024 and see just the same amount only spread out more (but that would be silly...)So simple answer - yes <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

I run EQ2 on my widescreen monitor just fine without any stretching.

I run EQ2 on my Mac Widescreen (Boot Camp/XP), at 1440 x something or another, and I've tried other resolutions too. I think with the widescreen options you do see more, but that might just be me?

<p>I use a 24" widescreen and the game has support for my native mode of 1920x1200.</p><p> As for performance, the resolution doesn't seem to affect it, so use the highest you have and just adjust other display options as necessary.</p>

<strike>It does just stretch it out. </strike>I run the game with 1900x1280 (native), and I tried run it on my secondary screen (1280x1024), and I saw the exact same breadth of the view. Edit: <i>Didn't notice this first, but the view on the wide screen is cut abit on the top and bottom, but the breadth is the same.</i>It have never bothered me much, not even noticed it before I read this post. The positive things with increased resolution is alot more important. Like more room, like 10 hotbats, separate 3 chat windows, still room for group, raid, all other windows, and still got room to actual see some of the game too <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />" />

Yes, it does support widescreen resolution -- 1440 x 960. Provided you have a monitor with a true 16:9 or 16:10 ratio. You can set this by going into:Options > Display > ResolutionYou should match the refresh rate to the same rate as your Desktop settings i.e. if you run windows at 60Hz you should also run the game at 60Hz. Flat-screen displays typically support higher refresh rates, so find one that causes you the least amount of strain. For me that is typically the lowest setting (60) but some people prefer 70-85Hz.You should also enable Vertical Sync to avoid tearing of the image while your character moves through the world, which is particularly noticeable on widescreen displays. Be warned that this will use extra processing power ... but it is generally worth it and quite viable on newer cards.

I've been running at 1440x900 for about a year now and there is definitely no stretching involved. A good test of this is when you first change your resolution from normal to widescreen you will notice that your UI doesn't fill the entire screen any longer. I was able to expand certain windows and to fill in gaps with others. There are also some good screenshots on this board as well as the EQ2Interface boards that will show you the differences between normal and widescreen without leaving any doubt what-so-ever.

<p>My wife and I play right next to each other and my widescreen does show more than her normal screen. Now I gotta get another widescreen! <img src="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/images/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" /></p>

<p>Thank you all, but you've just made me spend a lot of money.</p><p>Not only have I just upgraded from an Athlon 3500+ and a Nvidia 7600gt to an Athlon 6400+ and a Nvidia 8800 gtx, but you twisted my arm to buy a 24" widescreen monitor!</p><p>I'm running on very high quality and 1920 x 1200, all I can say is Wow! You definately get a lot more on your screen. I've just realised what I've been missing out on all this time.</p>
