View Full Version : T8 PvP Token Weapon Issue
When I took a look at the new t8 pvp weapons my first thought was WOW!!! On a second glance the stats seem low, and after seeing the quest reward for an easy heroic quest, I must say that the cost of the weapon is unjustified. The weapons cost 400 tokens - that is no small amount of tokens, and the rewards should be very good. In the image below the weapon on the left is the pvp weapon and the weapon on the right is the quest reward.<img src="http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd148/synterax/weaps.jpg" alt="" border="0" />

Seems that all the PvP fabled items have extremely low stats, but have very very nice effects and procs. For the insanely high token cost, it would be nice to have a tad higher stats imo.

<p>The PVP reward has more STA/HP, a wider damage spread (better crits), gives +3 to DA, +2 to Crit chance and procs a stifle...</p><p>The quest reward has a bit more STR, and a crappy dot....</p><p>Stop moanin!</p>

<p>The PvP weapon is significantly better there. Not sure I'll ever have the 400 tokens for them, I'd get the armor and jewelery first.</p>

I'd rather have the PvP weapon.

<span style="color: #00cc99;">A better comparison would be to show just how badly PVP weapons compare to raided weapons. There's been at least one with over 110 damage rating. If PVP gear is intended to make up for the fact that those on faction based raids will unlikely be able to clear the real endgame raids, it needs to be on par with that gear. Not heroic questing gear. They probably need to bump the PVP gear up by 10-15% to make it desirable over the new "heroic fabled" tier and at least coming closer to "endline raid fabled."</span>

<p>Like with the fabled EoF and PvP armor/weapons, the new T8 should suit it's purpose.</p><p>The raid gear should suit PvE and token gear should suit PvP..</p><p>Should they both be equal? 400 tokens (a lot easier for scouts) vs organising 24ppl and a hard fight against a raid mob/zone.. for a random chance at 1-2 weapons/pieces of armor??</p><p>Lots of reasons for and against this..</p><p>I'd say due to some classes having obvious advantages for collecting pvp tokens > gear/weapons.. the raid gear should be superior (in general)</p>

Again, the effects are nice on it, but the stats? Those are lower than t7 fabled items, and the damage rating is close to t7 as well. The raid obtained fabled btw, has over +50 to stats. Seeing that side by side with the PvP items put them to shame. That fabled in OP is a quest reward, its like the worst t8 fabled. Effects/Procs are very nice and useful, but if you cut your stats in half you are gonna suffer.

How is it a "proper" tank guardian and a "dps" tank zerker can use those items but an SK "bob" can't, nor the fabled bow with 1k dmg on it.

<cite>Krokous wrote:</cite><blockquote>pvp one is better, and token price isnt high... scouts on nagafen have already 300+ tokens</blockquote>The price is actually quite high. Can't use scouts (read: predators/rouges) as a measure for anything, because they are in a league of their own in this game, and have always been.

<p>Personnaly, I think PvP items should be better than raided items.</p><p>Seems to me the best thing to reward on a PvP server is people going out PvPing.</p>

Actually PVP gear should be better then raid gear for one simple reason. Except for exiled guilds, raids suffer from diversity of classes required to beat some of the tougher end game raid content. As such PVP gear should be used to balance this lack of classes with higher stats for the raid.
The issue is that other weapon listed is a heroic quest reward, the quest involves an instance where you don't even have to kill the final named mob. Yes the pvp weap has double attack and crit, which brings the effective rating up to about 102 vs the 99 of the heroic one, that still isn't a large differentiation though. How long would it take a full group to get the heroic weapon? How long would it take a full group to get each person the pvp weapon?
As a reference at best I can get 20 tokens an hour if my group declines tokens to me. 400 tokens at 20 tokens an hour is 20 hours. Mulitply that by 6 (full group) and you are at 120 hours. Would it take 6 people 120 hours to get that heroic reward? If the same exact group played together 4 hours a day it would take 30 days to get each person the weapon.Yes the pvp weapon is better than the heroic weapon, that isn't being questioned. Yes I would rather have the pvp weapon over the heroic weapon. The question is, is the minimal difference worth the significant time difference. I would rather spend my 400 tokens on something that would provide a larger benefit, at the current time the pvp weapons aren't really a viable option for spending tokens.
<cite>Krokous wrote:</cite><blockquote>pvp one is better, and token price isnt high... scouts on nagafen have already 300+ tokens</blockquote>And? There's two other PvP servers where getting that many tokens is harder. But yes I think that ghost is better. Just look at the proc.

<span style="color: #00cc99;">I really hope they put careful consideration into the PVP gear that is yet to be introduced, and also rebalance the weapons at minimum. The gear has to compete with the better (not the best perhaps) but at least the better raid gear, as that is the gear that single-faction raids won't be able to achieve with anything resembling normal progression. That's what the gear is for right? Making up for the inability to raid as well, and to help incentivize pvp? Well, if it is worse than instance/quest/heroic gear you will hit pvp servers with a triply whammy: 1. Players move to instances instead of PVP open areas. 2. Players are de-incentivized to PVP since it isn't progressing their character. 3. Players raid more, meaning large chunks of players in instances for long times. Also, 300-400 tokens and such per piece is going to be downright brutal on Venekor. I imagine even worse on Vox. Though seems to be working out alright on Nagafen, as people are getting pieces already, so it is looking good somewhere so far.</span>
anyone who was raiding would want to use the PVP sword anyway, crit and double attack mean a lot more then 1- extra strength.. GGi cant [Removed for Content] believe some of you whinning a WEAPON of all slots with a stifle proc is insane now add in that your getting double attack and crit? the quest to get anaphalix is pretty hard, well the zone is aside from the spider the zone you would need a very solid group and only 1 person in group gets the poison for the quest each time you do the zone

Being a solo coercer I dont have nearly enough tokens to even begin thinking about pvp gear, but I know Im gonna keep them safe in a chest somewhere for a while, in case they do lower the tokens needed to get pieces. In the meantime ill be trying to get the decent heroic gear thats out there (God I want that anaphylaxis staff ..me casting every second = lots of juicy procs)
