Is it viable?

<p>Hey..I'm new to this game (since the 15th of november) and... I started a wizard which is now 32 and everyone in the guild was talking with me about the coercer cause we will need one in about a month...Now... my main concern is that every forums I read everyone says:- Illusionist are better- Coercers are broken- We can barely kill things on our own- I'm not enjoying this class anymore- etc.Is it really true? or ppl are just overeacting for some small imbalances?My other question is: " If coercers are this imbalanced and everything, why would a guild bring a coercer instead of illusionist? I know my guild always bing 2 of each but.... why not 4 illu's if coercers are broken? "</p><p>To be honest, I've tryed both to lvl15 yesterday so I have a 15 Illusionist and 15 coercer... and I couldn't really see the difference... they both have the same spells and the only real big difference is the pet!  which I must admit I prefer a coercer for this! <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />" width="15" height="15" />anyways can you guys enlight me on this!Thanks</p>

Mezz and stun even somehate it is a great thing.Coercer can solo not far but they can solo a lot.I enjoy it <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>That you see no diff atm is a relic from some years.Like a year or more ago. 1-9 mage 10-19 enchanter 20+ coercer or illuand that is still nearly the same even when you start as level 1 coercer, yes you get some diff spells then a illu. you get charm illu get's pet.but the real class still starts at 20+</p>

<p>I am a 75 Coercer on Nagafen and I have a 70 wizzy.  I for one luv my coercer... Solo, Grp Raid .. Awesome class... Cutos out to Exur tho!  Search all his post great read</p><p>  As for Illusionist ... they have far more dps then coercers and there pet never brks and kill them ... omg sux during pvp ...LOL</p><p> Wizzy is awesome class as well (Not sure is ur server is pvp or not) but wizzy is much better pvp post KoS EoF... but i still perfer my coercer... bottom line.. my recommendation to you is play what YOU want to play not what your guild wants... ur account ur decision.</p><p>Nicdemus - Nagafen</p>

<p>No, Brer'fox, don't go throwing me into that briar patch......</p><p>As much as I hate the internal inconsistencies of the class sometimes (rely on reactives for damage, but many spells are stun/stifle/daze, lol?), No other two classes together can do what one well played Coercer can do.</p><p>We do more DPM than DPS, but when it all falls to crap, you can singlehandedly save the day.  We are 5 hours of sheer boredom, followed by 30 seconds of screaming terror, followed by /playsound ding.</p><p>Differences between the two?  Coercers buff melee better, Illu buff casters better.  That's about it, really.</p>
