I`m not familiar with the spell singing classes to much , I guess that would be Troub and Derge or whatever.Maybe someone with more experience can give me a little explanation about what they can do.I had a guy a few levels lower than me kill me 3 times or so by keeping me from being able to use my ca`s.For some reason he was able to spam the same thing without any pause , a sonnet spell and this kept me frombeing able to use any atks. or heals. This was on one of my low level alts.I have a few different classes and some of them have interrupts but theres a short pause/cool down in between.I can`t just keep a continuous interrupt on someone. This is the most disturbing thing I have experienced so far in pvp , even fighting in higher tiers against spell singersI have never seen anything like this.Usually they kite and run back and repeat , this guy just stood there and spammed this sonnet thing without ever stopping.Except to throw in a weapon atk in between. The entire time I was engaged in the fight I was able to get off maybe 1 or 2 atks .the combat logs show that he was able to hit this spell 20 times or so without stopping which kept me without any skills.I made screen shots and double checked them to see exactly how many times he could spam this skill.Iv`e fought everything there is out there from low to high tiers and this was the worst experience yet.I just don`t understand how he could keep doing this without stopping and keep me from being able to use anything.Imagine your whole bar staying dark through an entire fight while someone is killing you so you cant use any skills.I`m at a loss as to how to even counter this , all I could do was stand there and die .

What was the skill called? The exact name. What level? Was your power drained? Are you sure it was a bard, could it have been an enchanter? How long was the fight?

Neither Troubadors nor Dirges have any skill which can do this to you.

EDIT: Post the log please? You can find your logs at:C:/Program Files/Sony/Everquest II/Logs/<Server Name>/<CharName>.txt

After doing some research I figured out he was a Troubador. He spammed Snapping Sonnet , Fulgent blade and Deafening thrust together about 20 times which kept my bar blank and me disabled completely.I didn`t really experience much of a power drain though I mainly just didn`t have any skills the whole time.

Trying to get the log.At one point he was able to spam Lores Snapping Sonnet 8 times in row without a pause.I`m telling you this guy had me completely shut down , 3 times he killed me this way.

Well, Lore's Snapping Sonnet is a Troubador debuff which debuffs defense and drains health and power whenever you use power... it also has a 10 second recast timer. One of three things is happening:1. You're lagging2. He's Hacking3. Something else I haven't thought of.

Can you post the log please? Don't forget to edit the name out.

zaltar wrote:

After doing some research I figured out he was a Troubador. He spammed Snapping Sonnet , Fulgent blade and Deafening thrust together about 20 times which kept my bar blank and me disabled completely. Fulgent blade will be the double-melee attack which does nothing other than damage and snapping sonnet is described above. I'm leaning more towards option #2.

Thank you Paikis , I will post the log asap.Sorry about the rant but this is the first time of maybe 1000 encounters with every class that I couldn`t use any skills.Usually that bar will light back up at some point during the encounter.

Sorry it`s very late here I`ll have to continue with this later.I cannot find a folder titled "logs" anywhere in the Eq 2 file , perhaps it`s under a different title.I may have to opt for the screen shots I took of the combat log.

Yeah it was turned off unfortunately , the best I can offer are the screens I took. The reason I made this post was not to gripe about anything , I was just hopingthat someone with more experience could explain to me why I was helpless since heobviously owned me very hard and I`m still learning about pvp in this game.It should be understood that my inability to attack or heal was not due to a skill in progressbeing interrupted , which usually occurs in most conflicts , but rather from having all of myskills canceled completely throughout the duration of the encounters. The reactive heal that`s working was casted right before the fight began , but I was neverable to recast it again.I was not drained of power ever and most of the time his Lores drained for 1 power. In the last one I was confounded by 2 different skills 7 times just in that short screen shot.I was able to get 1 attack in.In the second ss there was also a Drake hitting me at the same time.In the last screen shot there is a total of 26 attacks to 1 showing although he actually did morewhich doesen`t show in the screen shot.If Lores is some type of reactive buff with a 36 second duration then how could it be triggeringif I was never using any skills and being confounded by Lores and Deafening Thrust when there isno description of those skills having the ability to confound ?The first 2 were cropped to keep names anonymous for obvious reasonsThe last one I used a paint program to conceal names for the same reasons. If it`s just a matter of the guy being really good , I can accept the losses , I justnever had this experience before in any of my fights, for the first time I felt likeI had no chance to beat someone and didn`t want to fight this guy ever again. He is level 26 , my alt is level 29.

Deafening Thrust DOES have a power drain on it, that's what you're seeing confounding you there, the power drain. Lore's is a reactive, every time you use power, it'll drain power and health. If you aren't using power, it shouldn't do any damage... Are you using Yualp? Singing Shot there is the Troubador's Stiffle and will blank out all your skills for 6+ seconds (depending on AAs). Gleaming Strike is a weapon proc from an imbued mastercrafted weapon. Taffo's Brilliant Blade is the flank/rear attack which debuffs your resists... Fulgent blade is a double-attack that does damage only.

I'm going to say that you had Yualp running. Yualp will drain 1 point of power per 10 levels, every second. That very low drain would account for Lore's hitting you for such pathetically small ammounts of damage... every second it looks like. Having seen the screenshots, I can't see anything dodgey there. Everything seems to be in order.

Ok paikis , thank you for taking the time to look at this.Yes you are correct , I always have Yaulp running as the power cost is quite minimal compared to the benefits. So as a result , then is it possible that the Yaulp power usage was causing the Lore reactive to activate per eachtick of one point of power ?And if so then does this explain the continuous confounding effect ?If this is in fact true then it would seem that using Yaulp while facing these types of reactives would be actually defeating it`s purposeby creating a bigger problem.I would like to see how this plays out using reverence also.Lets see , Yaulp slowly drains power which cause Lores to react by draing power , hp and confounding , then reverence reacts by turning drainedpower into hp.Hmmm. I guess I could turn it off real quick if I suspect my attacker to be a Troub , that`s if I`m still alive by then .

Procs dont proc procs. Yualp drains power, then Lore's drains power and health... and then nothing happens because Lore's is a proc. Reactives wont proc off of it either.

The power drained on Yualp is drained every second as well, not every tick. As for the continuous stiffling effect... all I can suggest is that your fight probably wasn't that long and he stunned you first, then stiffeld you, then stunned you again... that would take up roughly 10-12 seconds. If he threw a charm in near the start of the fight as well (pointless, but he might have) that would probably grey your buttons out as well (8 seconds at that level I think) Ignore the 'confounding' effect on Lore's. The spell does not effect your ability to cast. Confounding is related to power drain in this case.

As for turning off Yualp when fighting Troubs... why bother? Is 1 hitpoint and 1 power point per second really going to kill you at that level? I don't think it would. The bonus is well worth it IMO. I haven't played my Inquisitor for a while though, maybe I'm wrong.
