I almost always play scout classes but everyone plays them. 2nd I play healer type classes, usually Druid or Shaman...but there are too many of those. So I thought I would try a tank....any suggestions...and what makes them effective in PvP...I will usually be playing solo or with my wife who is an assassin.

Thanks

Solo evil tank? Pretty much anything that isn't a guardian. You can solo as a guardian (I've done it!) but it is nowhere near as powerful as the other tanks are solo. In groups nothing can match a good guardian though.

Even tho I have an SK, a zerker seems to do better in pvp as its all about burst dmg.

Hmm.. i would say zerker because of their great defense and agro control, but thats just me imo

As a fury, I try to avoid fighting berserkers .

Paladins are easy enough, guadians are rare and fall into two categories: 1) Raid geared and in a full group or 2) wearing mastercrafted and solo. Shadowknights can be really powerful if played right/with the right classes (unfortunately, the only shadowknight I duelled in the arena keeps using Divine Aura then PT on me).

If you are going to be rolling with a group all the time I would probably suggest a zerker. Otherwise Shadowknight all the way.

I actually beat a fury solo.......took 5 minutes but hey!

IMO Paladins or Shadowknights are the most fun to play.

Solo PvP, tank ... seriously, a Swashy or Brig. Yeah, they're scouts not fighters ... but they're light tanks and tracking alone makes them better solo PvP'ers, waaaaay better than the fighter class "tanks" for solo PvP. Sad but true.

Grouping, honestly any fighter class tank can be good in a group. I deleted my T7 Bruiser, but he was awesome in a group, huge dps, tons of stuns, great health and avoidance, really did the business in group PvP. Monks, similarly, are quite beneficial in group PvP. Berserkers are more dps oriented, but great tanks for PvP, and I don't think there's a single class that's really better than a Guardian for "tanking" in a group. Paladins are good in groups too. Shadowknights are solid in groups and great at 1v1's, but they get wiped by groups just as easily as everybody else, so if you're not going to group with a scout, I wouldn't really recommend solo PvP'ing with any of the fighter classes to be honest.

Tracking is simply the most powerful PvP tool in the game by a wide margin. It's the ultimate weapon for finding unfair fights in your favor and avoiding anything even remotely resembling a fair fight, which seems to be how most high titled players play these days.

Crusaders are great tanks in small pvp groups because their versatility helps off-set the missing pieces.

Go with a wizard and make sure they have mana shield, should be able to tank anything better than a tanking class.

here is a tip for the solo non scout class pvp. Bind key to target player PVP and then just hit that as you run around looking for guys it targets a long ways out which is nice. Also good for finding finding incoming fights before they get there and just targeting in general.Though if you it isn't much help against stealth sneaking up on you.

if duoin' with an assasin(dubious combo, should be prolly better as a healer in this), I'd say sk. The healing they get, albeit obviously not being a healing, is still better then nothing... and you should anyway be able to lock one guy on you to allow the sin to do his voodoo... and if you start fightin' against groups of 3+(with no healer too) you don't stand much chance anyway...
