Now that RoK has rolled out, all the twinks/newbie gankers have dusted off their lvl 70 alts and headed off to RoK!The past week has been nothing but fair fights in the CL, Antonica and TS... thanks for the break (even if its just temporary) from the tedious 4 vs 1 and making MC equipment useful again!*beams*

if you've seen the T2 gear coming out of RoK you'd never call T2 MC useful again. It got completely owned.

Every cloak in the game except for the steamfont, and god cloaks? Completely owned.

Twinks who learn to get the right gear by doing the right quests, and suppliment with the right other pieces.. are still going to gank new players out the wazoo.

I'm not sure what the rate of master-drops is in the new newbie area. I know that I've NEVER seen a master chest drop in either GFey, or DLW.. so i can't imagine that they drop in TD. With that being the case, and new players not even accidentally running into a few masters here and there, twinks who can farm/afford the masters will still own faces off of newbies.

I'll enjoy it while it lasts. I'm sure the new gear will start trickling down in to the classic T2 zones eventually. For the time being however.. seems all the new content has the twinks preoccupied.

I believe M1 drop is an issue confirmed by devs - they are looking into it

Im a newbie and still getting ganked alot. But I havent seen the large groups I was seeing before, so i guess that is something

I really suck at pvp

All the worthwhile gear I've seen coming out of ROK was no drop, so if they have nice ROK gear it means the 'twink' did the quest, they didn't buy the item, which means..technically..they are not twinks. They MAY be alts, but they have to put in the time to do the quests same as everyone else. Now if you dont do the quests yourself and get owned by someone who has, you can't blame that on them, tbh. The HUGE amounts of gold coming off these quests pretty much ensures anyone who felt they couldn't afford master spells can now afford them, provided they actually DO THE QUESTS. Nothing is getting handed to anyone in this expansion..you do the work, you get the gold and gear..everyone should have a nice big piece of the pie.. so .. no more being able to blame 'twinking' if you die...that..is the ultimate fix.

Spyder that's really not possible, because most of the new good lowbie gear is no-trade gained from completing quests. So 2 things are going on here - 1st it's not [possible for a rich high toon to buy and feed these items to its low alt. And 2nd, in order to get these items, you HAVE to get exp and level.

I levelled a troubadour to 19 geared her ONLY with stuff gained from questing, then met a friend's twinked out level 17 melee warden for a few one-on-ones. I still lost 3 out of 4 matches, but I did win one, and the others all lasted a good 1-2 minutes each.

Right, the best gear in game right now for alts is coming from ROK and because it is NO DROP you cannot get it unless you specifically do all the content with your alt..which means EVERYONE is on completely 100% equal footing with everyone else. Where people go from there is entirely up to their playstyle..but ROK is not a 'twink' friendly environment.

There's a whole lot of level 16 armor and weapons for sale that have insane stats compared to the fabled and legendary items I geared him out in back in February.

Of course all of it's for sale right now at over a plat per piece now, which means I'll be buying the expansion and leveling a few alts to 15ish to get all the items I need, and rinsing/repeating as necessary.

This is all assuming of course that the items on the broker are the RoK quest items. If there are items with even better stats I'd be truly amazed at how badly they nerfed not only T2's crafted items, but the fabled and legendary stuff I spent two months getting, just to be able to be some clown brigand named Styng.

The quested items are better. You're not seeing them on the broker. They are all no-trade.

Yes - MC is obsolete, as is most of that legendary/fabled stuff you have.

On the other hand, in order to get the quested gear, a player will not be able to remain level locked, as completing the quests will cause them to level.

How this all plays out as players level into T3 where the new RoK low gear ends will be interesting....

But, what about those that farm the stuff and come back to camp the EFP and Antonica gates on their alts.. business as usual.. in equipment acquired in RoK?Basically what everyone is saying.. "enjoy it while they're occupied. Eventually the new players can expect a 1 second death instead of a 5 second death". Correct?But.. hey.. they earned it after all.

I really wanna say that sony really did do really good call on the new quest gear. I have been playing 17 twinks for over year and tbh its its allways been kind of lame when u can just 1 shot ppl on island gear but hell now 2 "island geared" sarnaks can kick ur twinked toon heh and like mcdonalds wuold say it "IM LOVING IT". Ofcourse u get the edge if u grind out the aa and masters for ur toon but that goes for every tier.

So all ppl that did cry about getting ganked. Roll a sarnak and grp up and enjoy t2 its a hell of a fun place to be atm

Love Fluffy

No need to roll a sarnak, those quests and gear are available to every new player regardless of faction - although it is just a tad harder for a Q to get ther than it is for a freep.

That being said, any new player trying to level up through the teens in the old zones is going to find themselves at a SEVERE disadavantage.

They're running from them. On both factions. In order to preserve their precious titles. We're talking about the brand new EQ2 players who are blissfully working their way through the T2 quests which should take 10 minutes but instead are taking them half a day. And, if its true that those locked can now pick up even better gear in RoK.. then it did nothing but make it more efficient for newb farming. At the beginning of this thread I was pleased with the breather... but, now after all the input from those who are pro-newbie farming.. I'm simply seeing the Calm before the Storm.

OK 1st off since you keep quoting me - nowhere have I said anything about newbie farming. I simply rolled a new toon and did the quests in Timorous to see what things were like, and I ended up with a toon that was able to compete with the old fashioned level locked twinks. No farming, no harvesting, no doing history books - none of that stuff. Just doing the quest lines as they came available. This would seem to be a good thing for new players.

Coupled witht the fact that you CANNOT get this gear without levelling because it is all tied to quest rewards, I don't see how this is possibly making things worse You're either an old fashioned level locker without the new gear, in which case the new players in that gear are competitive as they level up, or you're getting the new gear yourself and LEVELLING UP as you do it.

There is no way that a current level locked 17 twink can get this new gear without levelling beyond T2.

Anyone have stats on the no-drop sarnak loot? I find it hard to believe it's even better than the treasured stuff currently on the broker. That stuff is simply insane as it is.

Also, how much experience per quest are we talking about here? Any idea on if the quest rewards are random, or the same for each character or person who does them? Hopefully it'll be possible to do maybe five quests max to get all the items you need, but anyway I've been meaning to take my swash to 17 for a long, long time now anyway. Not nearly enough AAs by far...

I also don't guess any uber crafted items were implemented? If u look my lvl 17 swassy he has all the no trade gear that is better than the new lvl 16 drops. Only quest i cuoldnt do was lvl 17 belt one coz u cant get the quest until ur 18. And for aa this swassy allready haves 26 aa at 17 so capped =)

Wow that's depressing. 1400 health? 200 strength?

Guess it's time to take my swashbuckler to T3 and endure even more lameass one shot kills from harm touch. The joy.

Gotta say that I'm loving RoK. Didn't think I would since the level 16 treasured stuff blows away most of my gear I spent a long time crafting and adorning.

The fights more than make up for it. They're more even, more challenging and all in all last night farming some of the gear I had a blast with the impromptu fights I had.

One minor correction: I started a Troll assassin, locked him at 16 in anticipation of RoK. Mentored all of my friends through their lowbie quests in RoK and picked up the quest gear easily. I just hit 19 with Slork and have been having a blast. It is possible to get the gear from RoK for preexisting t2 characters without skyrocketing past the t2 quests. Slork, Assassin for Shadow Guard, Venekor
