Took my 70th level necro to the starting area in Kunark (Kylong Plains). I was trying to work my way into the yeti caves to continue on a quest. My master 1 pet can no longer hold aggro. I can cast deathly coil then the bat spell (I know it doesn't do much damage but I love the graphic) and the mob comes for me. After this point my pet usually cant get aggro back and I have to fear or root to get out of the way. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me ? I havnt had any problems with my pet holding aggro until I got to the new zones.

Yeah I have had problems with this since before RoK. Think it was after the last live update just before RoK. Thing is it doesn't always seem to bee the case. Sometimes I can go for hours and blast away at mobs and my pet hold aggro just fine. Then all of a sudden it's like all it's aggro just dissappears. I can send in pet first, cast Perceptor's Command followed by Shockwave thinking that should have built up my pets aggro well enough. Then I start my rotation with Dooming Darkness, the Bats and Deathly Coil. As soon as I cast Deathly Coil here comes the mob running after me. Then the rest of the fight is me struggling to keep the mob away from me and attacking my pet. I have also had another necro in our guild say he has the same problem sometimes. For us it's not a constant problem but a problem at time none the less.

As far as i know this is long known issue with our tank pet, last good tank pet was on level ~10 . Its very strange because sometimes I cant pull aggro from pet even when i try but mostly he loose agro after 3rd DoT and perceptors command with 8points isnt working in 50%. We can hope that new pet will be better. As you speak about Kylong, there are nice iksar skellies, charm one and he will make your soloing much easier, he is doing around 300-400 dps, have lots of HP's and he is good at holding aggro too

If you are going to solo alot I would say respec until you hit 80 with the stamina line from KoS and the Tank pet buffs from EoF.

I have had no issues with my tank pet holding agro, and with the taunt you get from the stamina line and the AOE knockdown taunt, he takes agro back from me many times and easily manages up to seperate solo mobs (from adds), sometimes more.

If you can spare the AA, go 4-8-8-8 if you can.

The 2nd and 3rd jump in the stam tree help me hold agro at almost any time (except lifeburn if I go to early).

The aoe stun is great for getting agro and the direct pet tant with 50% chance to move up on hate list works like a charm. If you are going to solo you might consider spec'ing to maximize solo'ing.

I respeced to tainted heals a few days ago. Wowzers by the way.

peace,

 Deathlily, 72 necro of Mistmoore

I'm currently specced 4/6/8/8 in Wis. Works like a charm, but I can still pull agro sometimes. Seems like maybe Tanky is getting resists to his taunts?

Thanks for the tip on the skeletons in KP...I'll go grab one tonight and see how he does.

you dont need to rush your fights, a tank pet in defense stance will hold a fair bit of agro, it only puts out a few hundred dps tho, and if youre doing 3 times that then you can only expect problems.that said, shockwave and perceptors command are great assets.

Here's the wash... If you're DPS specked and have no tank pet AAs... you're going to HAVE to let your pet build up agro, or your DPS will take it, and you and your pet won't have any tools to stop that from happening. If you sacrifice a little DPS and take a few of those sta line AAs, your pet will be a MUCH better tank, which will allow you to use your DPS more freely.
