Hi. I'm relatively new to EQ2, and I'm having some trouble narrowing down my class choice. My question is for you melee spec'd wardens, or those wardens with melee spec experience. How would you compare a melee warden's dps to other classes? For example, would you consider it relatively equal to some of the fighter classes? Also, at what point (how many AA pts, what level, etc.) does a melee warden come into their own? Thanks in advance for any advice/opinions.

You should search these forums for this sort of thing. 10 kazillion posts on this already. But, quickly....dps is pretty good for a healer. If dps is your main concern, I'd lean more towards melee Inquistor or melee Mystic. I don't know who wins between those two.I think that getting all your melee CA's and getting the 75% crit in the warden tree is your first priority, then going down the str tree druid side until you have 8 points in the heal proc. After that, season to flavour.

10 Kazillion ??? .... No there is only like 2.3 Bazillion posts on it. LOL

the 75% mele crits is acheived with 21 pts and the max natural boon(heal proc) is acheived with another 21 pts.

The warden dps compared to other classes is some where in the middle of them all ... but they can acheive some pretty high burst dmg comparitivley speaking. With their roots, dps and healing capabilites ... imo they are one of the best solo'ing healers , and in the top few of solo play classes. Necro on the top ....Guardian dead last ....imho .... and im speaking solo only.

For grouping the Warden is a great patch it in where ya need it kinda char , kinda like the paladin to a lesser extreme, especially with the mele spec . And when you hit around 65 AA's you can use the mele/caster hybrid , wich is really fun imo. Itmeans youve gone down the int line to pick infusion (every benificial spell does dmg) and you still have the minimum mele spec like Tallok stated.

All in all i dont think there is a person that has tried the warden looking for a mele priest and regretted it. And their still fun without the mele spec ... just not as much imo... Also did i mention the healing potential is awesome ....its just that for raiding ,with raiders becoming very practiced , that awesome healing potential has become unneeded.

But were still hoping for them to add in the ~Forrest of Terror~

I too am wondering when melee Wardens come into thier own, Right now I get a lot of misses and parry's on blue mobs, with a 12 sec recast timer this tends to hurt alot.

All my skills are at the max and I am going down the Warden CA lline first.

Well I'm a Arasi 36 Melee warden and I really improved at 26 when I got my crushing/slashing buff. I have 36 AA now and what I have done is put a full 21 AA into my EoF tree to get the 75% crit rate. Then I hopped over to the KoS STR tree and so far I have 4-4-4 and next goal is STR 4-4-4-4. I should also say my armor is the MC fighter stuff. STR gear. My jewelry and sheild and ranged item is MC priestly gear. WIS stuff. I only have bought Adept 1s too. But I feel pretty darn powerful. Out in EL at lvl 35 I was takeing down lvl 39' averages quickly and with out fail. I can't wait to get some more AA's so I can grab up some of the other melee arts. As of now I can two HO most anything my level or near. Oh and after the lvl 26 buff, parries and misses with all but disapaer.

okies ...yes detson awnserd the lvl question ...it is when you can boost your skills beyond the max cap with the mele buff ... getting adept 1 app4 atleast is also important on all other spells ... even the nukes ...cuz you will still find them handy ... maybe get a hex doll or 2 and get your root up to snuff. When the going gets tuff , root them , stand back and hex em ,...nuke a little ....then do some more mele , rinse repeat as needed for the tuffer mobs.

And when ever you have a chance to pick the wolf form masterII .....Freakin take it ....cuz Arie said so. (your mitigation & focus will be awesome)

PS: Stack snare half way through the root timer or there abouts.... they will walk towards you very slowly when root brks.

But i just realized pwr could become an issue with all that rooting and snaring ....just remember even if your twidleing your thumbs while their rooted your gaining pwr ... maybe get some potions to boost pwr for those times .... dont snare unless you need to ... Also in the lower lvls you might find the second ability on the wisdom line handy , It will root aoe , do dmg(str based) and dispell any roots on you ... ~Witch~ would be nice with the mele spec when you find the mob to tuff to mele only.

Just a thought
