A website dedicated to the rich history and lore associated with the world of Norrath. It's been up for a while (since December 2006), but because a guildee is currently hosting it for me I wasn't sure if it'd be okay to spread the word about it. I just asked him and he gave me the go ahead (although he did mention that he might be switching services in the near future, so might be some down time). <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img mce_tsrc=" />Anyways, now that I know it's okay to, I wanted to let the community know about my website, it's got lore/information from both EverQuest and EverQuest II, I try to keep it just official stuff though...Myrist(PS: Lore and Legends will be updated as I come across them in game, so I can get the screenshot too <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img mce_tsrc=" />)

Ok has anyone checked this sight out and can confirm everything on it is canon? According to this sight Nagafen and Vox mating are the reason that Luclin exploded. Read The Age of Destiny. Maybe I misread it but that is what I got out of it.

Hrm... thanks for noticing this.. i dont believe i've heard such.. the Drakota of the Truthbringer... Mithaniel Marr doesnt have a single dragon in his power.. far as i know.. hrm.. sad.. soo soo sad.. who writes this stuff??PS: An idea would be to have a link to the source, similiar to how the Wowwiki sight works for Warcraft lore, they have a page for the sources, wouldnt hurt!

That would be helpful for me to know so I can look in to it further or remove it. There are two versions of the site, EverQuest, and EverQuest II, and there's a lot of lore on each version...I've also got a Sources link at the very bottom of each page listing all my sources for information. (I don't list it on the actual story page because I felt it took away from the 'reading a book' feeling). For the earlier EverQuest stuff a lot of it I had to sift through because a lot of the lore seemed to be either speculation or greatly outdated (I think from beta or from Verant's ownership of the game) and I didn't recognize it as history to the current world.Lol, I did not state anywhere I was an expert, I'm just an enthusiast about this stuff <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img mce_tsrc=" />

If it's The Age of Destiny from the EverQuest II lore section you're referring to, I got that from History of Norrath by Lumena Naktame (under EverQuest II > Book of Ages on the right hand menu)Her note at the bottom of that page says she got the story from an In-Game book.I've never seen this in-game book (don't have a big enough house for a library and not a fan of book quests), can anyone confirm whether it (and it's prequels - Age of Turmoil and Age of Cataclysms) exists or not?PS: What's canon? I've seen that word used in this forum but I'm not familiar with it...

In the context of a fictional universe, the canon comprises those novels, stories, films, etc., that are considered to be genuine or officially sanctioned, and those events, characters, settings, etc., that are considered to have existence within the fictional universe. In order for a setting to appear cohesive, especially in fictions that contain multiple parts, both creators and audiences sometimes find it useful to define what has and has not "actually happened" in that universe. Items that are considered canon usually come from the original source or author of the fictional universe, while non-canon material comes from adaptations, spin-offs or unofficial items, often in different media. Fan fiction is usually an example of non-canonical fiction. That should help i hope.As for the Age of Destiny thing, I'll try looking into it.. but i dont recall such things, otherwise Cusa might know?

Ahhh thanks, that clarifies up a lot. So then I can start using the right words lol. I try to make sure all the material on my website is canon. I've even put a note on the submissions page that I don't want anything that isn't "official".I'll check some other lore websites to see if they have those books listed, if it's only on the one site then it's a good chance it's not around anymore in-game...[EDIT]These books seem to be listed on The Athenaeum and Eiwyn's Library as well... Here's the item listed on Allakhazam hmmmBut the book on Eiwyn's is different than the other two, it says the Truthspeaker.... and seems to have more to it at the end

Well, I've updated the text to match the story in Eiwyn's Library for now <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img mce_tsrc=" /> It seems it may have been just a typo, what said Truthbringer was probably meant to say Truthspeaker.[EDIT] Doh lol, just noticed even that version mentions "Truthbringer".... I don't have a copy of the actual book so I can't check to see if it's correct...

I will see if I can find a copy of the book to verify and it could be as simple as it is a guess by the author the book(sage of ages = darathar correct?) that it was a prismatic dragon that caused luclin to explode. But I was under the impression we didn't know what caused Luclin to explode and that book seems to say that we do know it.

Well I've not found it in in-game books, personally, but in the conversation that starts the first Nagafen quest, he infers that Kerafyrm (the Sleeper/Awakened) is responsible for the destruction of Luclin. I don't have a transcript of the conversation, but he basically tells you that there has only been one prismatic dragon ever created, and to look to the sky to see evidence of the power they posess.

For those who might not know, a prismatic dragon is the offspring of two dragons of conflicting (or maybe just different?) elements, and they are extremely powerful. The purpose of Nagafen and Vox are (or at least were, Vox is dead and Nagafen may not be so much trapped anymore) imprisoned in separate places is to keep them from mating and producing another prismatic dragon.

While their mating did not destroy Luclin, their separation was intended to prevent the spawn of a similar creature to the one that did destroy Luclin (of course, this was long before Luclin was destroyed). So it is connected.

It should be noted, to avoid confustion, that Kerafyrm is not the offspring of Nagafen and Vox. At least that is the impression I have gotten - if I am mistaken, please correct me.

Yeah but both Nagafen and Darathar disguised as the Sage of Ages lied to you. Kerafyrm didn't blow up Luclin. We haven't been revealed with concrete evidence to prove who or what did yet.

Hmmm, I'll ask around next chance I get to log in if anyone's seen those books. I won't make a note because if it's not canon, it won't stay on Myrist. And it's starting to look like the book hasn't been seen in-game...Has anyone been able to find these books in-game yet? (The Age of Turmoil, The Age of Cataclysms, The Age of Destiny)

Keep the books, they are (or at least were) in game. What we see here is the use of the "perspective of lore." This is a prime example of how you can't say every book you find is 100% accurate. Some books we know to be works of fiction (thogh even the most outlandish work of fiction has a toe in reality). The Sage of Ages that we've encountered has been shown to be Darathar in disguise, using this guise to manipulate adventurers to his own ends, that being taking out Nagafen, or at least recovering more of his prismatic eggs.

All history is propoganda, the question is, who's propganda is it?

Arianah

Aye, the reason I included it originally was because I thought it was neat, a piece of history/lore from the dragons perspective I asked around in-game, and someone mentioned that they either had or have the Age of Destiny book, so I think there's a good chance it is, or was in game at some point. I'll try and see if I can take a gander at the book if they still have it to make sure the text is correct.

Well, I decided to remove the Book of Ages stories because it seemed inconsistent (all the other lore is from the main story line, racial history, monster lore and holiday stories - the Book of Ages were the only book stories, and seemed out of place).BUT, I was thinking of adding a Books section if there was enough interest. I know there's already quite a few websites out there that have all in-game book stories, but it would make Myrist more complete, and if the viewers want it, I'll work on it <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img mce_tsrc=" />

If you do a book section, there are heaps of little known books that have history about the game, just finished 'The Lady of the Lake' & 'Deep Marshes' in Feerrott which gives 2 different accounts of the Rallosian march in that part of the world (one book deals with the aviaks in Rathe Lake and the other the frogs going to Freeport for help)
