View Full Version : newb-ish questions

I've recently joined EQ2, (and love it btw ) and have a few questions as I have many in regards to this game. (my main is a necro atm, lvl 13)

1. Apprentice spells and such? From what I understand, if/when I buy the same spell, I can scribe it again to make the currently existing spell more powerfull (aka apprentice lvl II)? all the way up to master level whatever? I have absolutely no idea how that works, and don't remember the tutorial explaining it. Where can I even buy spells? [Removed for Content] is up with this automatically acquiring spells upon leveling?

2. Proffesions/crafting.. I'm not really sure on a profession yet, but how many proffesions am I allowed to have at one time? Are there "main proffesions" and "secondary proffesions"? (as in you can have 1 main, and 1 secondary or something) And when I did toy around with crafting in the overlord's outpost island, I needed all these ingrediants that the vendors didn't sell, and I couldn't see how some, if any of these ingrediants could be harvested at all in the environment.

3. Are there any guides out there on crafting? or guides for general newb knowledge? Hopefully it's not posted in a sticky above this thread in any case, I love the game so far, hope to stick with it and continue to feed my old eq drive thanks btw, hopefully this wasn't to lengthy of a wall-o-text

[I cannot control my vocabulary] is up with this automatically acquiring spells upon leveling?

You can buy Apprentice II spells from any merchant marked as a "(class) trainer". And yes, you can purchase/craft spells from App 2-4 and Adept 3. Adept 1 books are mob drops. Master I books are mob drop only (very rare) and Master II spells are only offered as a specialization upgrade at levels 14, 24, 34, etc. Up to level 50, you will automatically be granted all of the normal spells/combat arts. There are a few specials and fun spells that can only be purchased from vendors or tradeskillers. After level 50, all spells/arts are either crafted or dropped by mobs.

2. Proffesions/crafting.. I'm not really sure on a profession yet, but how many proffesions am I allowed to have at one time? Are there "main proffesions" and "secondary proffesions"? As for the secondary crafts, there are only two to choose from (transmuting and tinkering), and it is not necessary for you to have a main tradeskill profession in order to learn them. So you can have one main and one secondary. As for tradeskill components, they are all harvested from nodes that spawn all over the zones. They appear as rocks, roots, logs, bushes, animal dens and schools of fish. Just position your mouse cursor over them and either double click or hit "f".

3. Apprentice 1 that you get automatically until you are lvl 50 (or so might be 51), Apprentice II you buy from your class vendor (in the mage guild area, ask a guard for necromancer trainer and you should get a wisp trail to him), Apprentice IV which are player made of common components and can be obtained by getting a player to make it for you or buying it from a player on the broker. Adept 1 is the next step up, these are mob drops and can be bought from other players on the broker. Adept 3 is player made from a rare component, gotten the same ways as app4's. Master 1 is the highest level available for spells that you don't get as a master 2 choice for your class. Those are mob dropped and can be bought from other players via the broker.

2. Proffesions/crafting..
