View Full Version : Why is SOE punishing Non-Hackers by not banning or suspending Hackers?

SOE treats /report as a big round file. So, Why are they punishing the non-hackers?

Certain ppl I PVP anymore speed hack as soon as they start losing going 100 times griffon speed while in combat. For spell casters (espically one lvl 20 Blighter on Nafagen in particular) close just long enough to to throw DOT's and stay out of range effectively creating a immune hack. They move so fast ,even though they DOT you can't cast fast enough or fight them before they are again out of range (at 100 X griff speed less than 1/10 of sec) so they are effectively immune to any damage.

Well, are you /petitioning them? 'Cause /report just sends CS a chatlog from your character, and would probably do jack all in this situation.

The reason is quite simple why nothing happens. Unless SOE sees it personally, nothing, I repeat, nothing will happen to them. I have petitioned people before, and the next day I'll see them doing the same thing over and over, tis the way of the world.

On a side note though a good number of people have been reported as hacking who never actually were. (they were reported for any number of reasons)

This problem exists since eq1. Anyone who has played on the zek servers can tell you that SOE does not ban for hacking, not even when blatant and obvious. Heck, I have seen people ADMIT to hacking in front of GMs and hacking in front of GMs and, at the most, receive a 48 hour suspension.

No, SOE does not ban for hacking, never has, probably never will.

I agree it is a shame. It killed pvp in EQ1, yet they did nothing about it.

Ask Kirban/Speed or mmm, I think it was Damiax, or something like that. Their hacking was no secret. I stood by GMs with Damiax jumping across zones (warping) and nothing was done. Someone refresh my memory - the ogre SK GM on SZ that was accused of helping out Hate, what the heck was his name.... he stood by me while Damiax was hitting me ACROSS a zone - and he suspended him. We had people train our raids with GMs standing by for the explicit purpose of monitoring this kind of behavior - and the only action they took was suspending players (heck, I wish I remember names - it was some BP players, while we (Fall) were being helped by Hate in some planar flagging). I am sure we have more players from the Zek servers still around and they can confirm, if not the individual episodes, the fact the nothing was done, not even after 80% of the pvp population quit in pure disgust. And what about that idiot, the One/Neo wannabe on SZ - who remembers that story? He hacked people accounts and SOE did nothing - rather, it was Hate to track him down IRL and call his parents (hylarious story, btw).

I even remember reporting hackers from my own guild - a kid porting from the lower floor of Howling Stones to PoK and back in less than a min (a monk, to boot). We kicked the guy from the guild, but all he got was a suspension.

Ask around, and see if you are justified in, in your words, calling "[I cannot control my vocabulary]". And do your homework before accusing someone, next time.

SOE just doesn't ban for hacking. The very few bans I know of were always reverted to suspensions.

Now, profanity, that is something SOE bans for.

Edit: I went back to work, but I realized I am upset. Not only have I stood by and kept playing while the hacking was blatant, in disbelief, I must say (because SOE just woulnd't do anything about it). And if you haven't been there, on SZ, I don't think you can get an idea of the proportion of hacking. It got to the point where it was rare to find a honest fight, because all the honest players quit. And prior to hacking we had ShowEQ - no guild on SZ raided without it, whether they admit it or not. And it didn't last a week, or a month. It went on for years, the same people, over and over. Until the servers had to be merged. Yet, somehow, SOE got away with it - here I stand trying to convince someone that it actually did happen. Bah. Someone, please, tell this guy how bad we had it.
