I just replaced my 7800 GT SLI setup with a 8800 GTX 768. I have an Athlon 64 x2 4400+ with 2gb of ram running xp64. I've noticed almost no FPS improvement once so ever. Newest 169 drivers and I've gotten a noticable improvement in other games.

Any recommendations for settings or something? I have the dual core optimizers installed and all that. I never really had performance issues until patch 29 or so when the dual core settings were mucked with in eq2.

EDIT: Fresh load of x64, yes removed old drivers completly before installing new.

I just bought the 8800gt from a 7900gt. I have noticed no improvement whatsoever. It now Freezes every 30-60 secs for like 1 sec. I play at 1920x1200 but at medium settings. Played fine on the 7900gt. I have the Crysis demo and when I got the 8800gt there was a HUGH difference.

Venger

I recommend both of you to delete the eq2_recent.ini and eq2_settings.ini files and let the game perform a new hardware detection.

Some things in EQ2 depend on your graphics card (detailed shader distance), and some depend on your processor (shadows, number of high detail models). So basically, upgrading your graphic card will let you increase the shader distances, but it won't let you turn on more detailed models or more shadows (or give you any increased speed with the ones you already have on).
