Our level 80 spell is called Acid Storm. It's a pet (that isn't touched by AOES, yey!) that aoe dots mobs. The closer the mobs are to acid storm, the more they get hit for. When I had it up right next to a mob it was hitting for 1400. I'm very excited about this spell. It has a duration of 30 seconds and a recast of 2 minutes (i think... I'm spell haste and without any gear on it's 1 minute 43 seconds). The new fabled Warlock armor set is better than the EOF one but still leaves a bit to be desired. BP: 10 reduction in reuse timersLegs: 20ft (boo!)3 set bonus: Reduces recast of Upheaval (upgrade to Rift) by 30 seconds.5 set bonus: Increases the damage of Distortion by 250 (upgrade to void distortion)7 set bonus: Increases the duration of Acid Storm by 15 seconds.Other bonuses: +7 crit on hat and boots, +15 health regen on cowl, +100 spell damage on cuffs, +75 spell damage on hands.Screenshots are currently disabled in beta but if I can find out how to get one up I will post some.CastSoN

Thanks for the reply! That sounds pretty cool. Im assuming it's a dumbfire pet, whats the cast/recast on it?

LVL - Name (upgraded from)

71 - Dissolve (57 Soul Blister)71 - Flames of Velious (53 Glacialflame)72 - Acid (59 Scourge of Shadows)72 - Brood Infestation (52 Dark Infestation)72 - Encase (58 Thwart)73 - Gift of Bertoxxulous (60 Corrupt Gift)73 - Boon of Solitude (61 Boon of the Damned)73 - Netherous Bind (61 Cowering Bind)74 - Mana Trickle (61 Bestow Energy)74 - Netherbeast (62 Netherlord)75 - Absolution (62 Void Absolution)75 - Aspect of the Moon (63 Aspect of Night)75 - Aura of Void (63 Aura of Nihility)76 - Netherealm (58 Netherous Realm)76 - Radiation (64 Nebula)76 - Shroud of Bertoxxulous (64 Nihilistics)77 - Distortion (65 Void Distortion)77 - Nullify (66 Vulian Nullification)77 - Vacuum Chamber (66 War Pyre)77 - Pillaging (66 Phantom Pillaging)78 - Curse of Luclin (67 Curse of Isolation)78 - Grasp of Bertoxulous (67 Malignant Grasp)78 - Dead Grasp (68 Spectral Grasp)78 - Upheaval (65 Rift)79 - Mages Pact (68 Seal of Dismal Logic)79 - Vacuum Field (69 Tumultruous Maelstrom)79 - Void Contract (69 Terrible Deeds)80 - Cataclysm (70 Chaostorm)80 - Curse of Humility (70 Curse of Void)80 - Acid Storm - NEW SPELL

80 - Armageddon - Upgrade for Apocalypse. Our Master II choices at lvl 75 are as follows:

Acid (Level 72, Scourge of Shadows upgrade)

Mana Trickle (Level 74, Bestow Energy upgrade)

Absolution (Level 75, Void Absolution upgrade)

Aspect of the Moon (Level 75, Aspect of Night upgrade)

Overall the expansion is huge and the zones are very well done. Nearly all outdoor content is solo non-linked encounters. Lots of new gear appearances. Almost all the loot I have seen has at least one effect, although most of the treasured stuff is the same effect, + spell dmg. There are new effects on gear like Alacrity for casting haste, and one for reuse timers, although i can't remember the name. Plenty of crit gear around also. There does not seem to be as much proc gear as before.

Most of our spells scaled ~15% dmg from the numbers I saw. The new spell is wicked nice imo. Its a dumbfire pet, runs to the mob you cast it on, lasts for 30 seconds and ticks 1kish to closest mobs at master. Its out of encounter AE like the broods. The dumbfire is immune to non-direct dmg so it won't go down in the blink of an eye during AEs, and the timer starts when you cast it rather than when it ends. With the AGI line, the recast is 1'43" so by the time it expires you have 1'13" before casting it again. It also has a new spell graphic that is one of the coolest I have seen.

I haven't seen legendary set gear, but the first fabled set is mostly ok with a few problems. there is an effect on every piece in addition to the bonuses for wearing 3,5, or 7 pieces. Some of the effects are pretty nice (10% reuse reduction, 7% crit on two pieces), and some of them are kinda crappy (FT on legs and Health Regen on shoulders). The bonuses are kinda weak, 30 seconds off upheaval recast, +250 dmg to Distiortion, and 15 seconds longer duration on Acid Storm respectivly. There has been plenty of feedback regarding the bonuses so we will have to see what comes of it.

Acid Storm is a dumbfire type pet but will follow you around like the broodlings do if the mob is killed before the spell expires. It isn't affected by AOE so it has the potential to do a lot of damage. I edited my above post to include the ROK fabled set gear basics.

Forgot to add, there is at least one new port spire. In Terrin's Grasp in the Kylong Plains zone, you can find a scroll near the reflecting pool in the middle, it gives you new ports to Kylong Plains. I heard rumors of spires in Kunzar Jungle also, but never made it their to search for them.

For the spell shots, I was not wearing any gear, just jewelry, so the damage is probably a bit low.Screens of Gear and spells:

Bad part is there are very few mobs that are groups. Try to AoE 3 solo mobs and you will need to revive as they will paste you.

Well, I must say I like a lot of what I am seeing. Looks pretty good, although hearing that there aren't many group type mobs is a bit disconcerting. We all enjoy those Good to see there are upgrades to most of our major damage dealers.

What of leveling 71-80? Is it a harder progression or pretty much the same pace as previous levels? Are these huge zones just filled with crap mobs and tree's or is there AA'able stuff? *Quests, names, discoveries, loot, etc*

My take of Beta,

Well its a mixed bag, the size and scope of the expansion is truely amazing with heaps and I mean heaps of solo quests, there are new methods of getting around the zones and the zones are huge. Best Looking expansion yet!!!

ok for us Warlocks,

Our spells upgrades nicely with the damage to them scaling ok, nothing game breaking.

Gear, I have only seen the Fable raid class gear some of the bonus to the gear are average at best others are ok like the Chest which adds 10% to reuse times.

However most gear has + to damge spell reuse timers, casting etc nothing with proc's

The set bonus are not worth talking about until you get to the 7th which adds time to the acid spray spell which is ok.

Other types of gear found in this expansion is mostly based on + to something they are moving away from any procing items so at some stage we could see propagation becoming irrelivent.

The bigest problem is actual content, there seems to be a move away from grouping and group based encounters, with limited place to group out side the 7 or so instances, these instances are good and are enjoyable but not sure how long taey would take before you get bored. The persistant zones are going to be packed for a while I guess.

Raiding I have been told is great for us as a class and there is lots to do there.

The problem with soloing for our class is that there is very few linked content and I have been advised that there is a good portion of immune to root and stun mobs. Ok the best way to describ this type of play we are being forced if we want to solo which is most of the content is the root and nuke method for 99% of the content. These mobs hit hard and you wont be able to take on more than one at a time. Ther goes 40% of our spells!

Overall for most classes that are not AoE based the expansion is great, but for those soloing warlocks out there its going to be different

Yeah, I must admit I am a bit concerned with the change of strategy on overland zones with all the single mob encounters. I haven't seen much of the group/raid instances yet so until then I will reserve my judgement on the overall functionality of our AE/AOE spells in RoK until I do..

There are very few large, linked encounters in RoK. Probably the least of all the expansions. Yeah, it sucks. On the other hand though, with a new teir we won't have to pay hundreds of plat for our new M1s like wizzies will. Heh.
