EQ2 Client Application has stopped working

<p>I have been getting this message since wednesday evening.  I had been playing fine, locked up, and since then have not been able to get into the game.  I've tried looking in the forums and trying the suggestions, but none of the suggestions have helped.  Was wondering if anyone else has found a way to clear this issue up.  Its a new computer with a fresh install of Vista.  Computer stats are:</p><p>Operating System - Vista Home Premium</p><p>CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo T770 2.4G</p><p>Memory Size - 2 gigs</p><p>Hard disk 200 g</p><p>Graphics card - nvidia GeGorce 8600M GT</p><p>Thanks in advance if anyone is able to help.  Really hope I can figure this out.</p>

If it's a DEll remove their remote support center 2.0 that made my laptop go [Removed for Content]Once uninstalled, everything was flawless as normal

Its actually an Asus, so I dont think thats the issue.  I really just dont understand how it went from working fine, to being completely broken.  Anyone else have any suggestions to try?

Just for some info: I had Vista for a few weeks and played EQ2 completely fine. I had to reformat a few days ago, and afterwards the file was corrupt from my CDs I suppose...so downloaded the installer online and let it run for 7 hours. Did a full file scan and everything else, ran as administrator, switched read only off, everything, and I still get that message after selecting character.edit: I don't know if it matters since I'm running it as administrator, but the check box in the file properties is greyed out and I can't select "Run as administrator" as an option (so it does it everytime). Also, it seems that even though I apply the read-only off, it resets it back to read-only once I press ok.

<p>With the way Vista's new security model works, it is sometimes better to install frequently updated applications outside of the Program Files directory. have been using Vista since way before the public beta test was started and have carried over a habit from XP - all my games are installed in a ..games sub directory.</p><p>In any respect, try this -  keep in mind that this helps the MAJORITY of the people, but it may not help everyone with vista.</p><p>first, locate the following files.</p><p>LP_plugin.exeEQ2.exeEverQuest2.exe</p><p>then for each one, right click them and then choose properties. from there you should see a button to "run as administrator" or something similar, i am not at my vista machine, so i cant remember exactly. in that window, look down it, and a little ways down, you will see a checkbox that does the same thing, but when checked, it runs each time the app is run and does not require you to do it each time it is run. also, there is a checkbox for the compatibility options. check that checkbox, and then make sure it is set to windows xp SP2 in the drop down just underneath it. it defaults to xp SP2, but i am just covering all the bases. then, if there is a button at the bottom of the window that says "apply" click it, then click ok. if there is no "apply" button, then just click ok. </p><p>now, when you run from the shortcut on the desktop, you do not need to set it to run as admin every time you start it, and you should not have the LP_plugin error any longer either.</p><p>also, it is a good idea to right click the station and EQ2 folders under sony in Program Files, and make sure the folder permissions for read-only is not checked. this will allow the patcher and the launcher to write patches to the folders if patches need to be done</p>
