How often and under what circumstances do you use Guardian Sphere? I used to use it whenever it was up (raids, groups, pvp, solo) for the chance to Stoneskin. Then my raid leader told me to stop it because 1. they were tired of seeing me face down on the floor and 2. it was scaring the children. And my senior guildmates informed me that Guardian Sphere during pvp was simply suicide, preferring to spread the damage out more evenly over the group (while still maintaining most of the pain for myself, of course).

Now I rarely use the skill except when solo. I am no longer putting the Mender's kids through Wizard's School but I feel that I could am not using the skill to its full potential.

So how do you balance the crispy goodness of saving the party from damage with the risk of buying the Mender another villa in the Hamptons? Any tips on how to better use this skill would be greatly appreciated.

Majo, 70 Guardian of Venekor

Don't use it in fights where there are raid wide AEs, or very powerful AEs, you will floor instantly. Only time yo ucan use it is against mobs that have a short range AE only and make sure your all mt members are out of AE range.

Will the intercept portion even work if your raid force is in back of the mob like they should be? I never die because of this and use it all the time. You seem to have to be really close to people to intercept their damage. The single target intercept skill is the same way. If I am behind the mob I cannot intercept damage from the MT...I have to step in front for a second and stand next to him otherwise it will not fire. In my experience it has pretty much acted like Stone Skin with no downfall. Maybe I am just getting lucky. The one exception I have found is against the named gnome in Clockwork Menace...the spider adds seem to be the only mobs that give me trouble if I use this skill. Probably because their AOE is quite bad and I am standing very close to my group members during the fight.I am an OT by the way but use it in heroic content all the time and know our MT uses it on raids all the time.

I use Guardian Sphere all the time, and have never died from using it, even once.

Although, I usually will hit it on the pull to soak up some of the damage before the healers can kick in.

I usually tandem this skill, well the level 70 version of it (Stone Sphere), with Tower of Stone on named pulls. That's on carebear servers though. YMMV in PvP.
