I started a little defiler to group and eventually raid after hearing much good about them. I know close to nothing about them unfortunatly (I raid as a necromancer) and I extremely rarely grouped with defilers, they seem more uncommon then clerics/druids. Up to now she is level 14 and have 7 AA to spend.

I DO NOT plan on soloing at all, just grouping from now on.

1- What would be the more effective specc for healing, and should I start with EoF tree or not.

2- Is the #1 specc the same when I will reach a proper level for raiding?

Thank you! Up to now I am pretty impressed with the healing power of a defiler, wish I tried this class earlier. It's very different from my EQ1 raiding cleric but the change is welcomed.

The short answer is: Search is your friend. The long anwser is: Defilers don't have a MUST HAVE AA line or AA setup like some other classes. Our AA lines are about equal average. The most common AA setups in the KoS tree are either STR-4-4-6-8-2 / WIS-4-6-4-8-2 (1 AA point left) or AGI-4-4-4-8 / WIS-4-6-4-8-2 (5 AA points left).STR-4-4-6-8-2 will give the ghost dog a ward proc, 12% group haste and doggy is immune to (most) AoEs and can proc a short AoE immunity for the group too. If doggy is dead you lose all these benefices. AGI-4-4-4-8 will give you 50% melee critt and some % heal critt.WIS-4-6-4-8-2 will give you a boost to the next heal every 30sec, improve your caster skills (except ministration), reduce your recast timer and give you a jesters cap equivalent you can't use on yourself.Of course with RoK you could go STR-4-4-6-8-2 / AGI-4-4-4-8 / WIS-4-6-4-8-2 with one AA left.Pre-raiding you might want to improve your DPS at the cost of the WIS-line: STR-4-4-6-8-2 / AGI-4-4-7-8-2 / INT-4-8-8.In the EoF tree only few skills improve our healing directly: the AA skill for bane of shielding, the AA skill for our regen ward group buff and soul ward. Some people like soul ward (and improving the regen ward group buff on the way to the soul ward) other prefer cannibalization or the faster / cheaper debuffs. It's up to you to pick the skills you like. How to start? I would place the first 4-5AAs into bane of shielding (till you hit 3.9-4% proc chance) and then switch to the KoS tree. Or you could stay in the EoF tree till you have about 15-20AAs and then respec: leave 4-5AA in bane of shielding and move the other 10-15AA into the KoS tree.

Thanks for the answer.

Please tell me if I am wong, but it seems like the Wisdom line (with ritual) would give me more benefit as a low/mid level healer then the str line? Or is dogdog ward so great that leveling STR then respeccing to wis when I have enough AA is recommended ( then put new points into WIS line)?

And, does the crit heal chance of Agi line better then the STR one with the ward? Or are they about the same? Like I said I care NOTHING about my dps since I will be grouping 100%, heals and debuffs are what I want to concentrate on.

For the EoF tree, I don't have curse of shielding spell yet so I think I might start with KoS.

You seem to be one that wants to min/max. If you know how to position your dog - and send him in he will outperform heal crits by a fair margin This is probably moot in a week though as you will be able to go down both agi and str and wis if you wanted too. Some people won't use the dog cause they are either too lazy or just don't understand how to get the dog so it won't intercept riposte.

As for what line to go down first? Yeah I would probably go down Wis first myself

To be able to increase the next heal by 20% might save our group now and then. But the ritual is on a 1 minute timer = 1 heal spell every minute gets a 20% boost. For a raiding I will take it every day but for leveling the improved DPS from the int line might be better (faster kills etc).To str line and doggy: Without the last ability from the str line doggy is VERY fragile and will die quite often even with good positioning. Once you get str-E doggy survives much better but you have to take care on the positioning. IF doggy is alive (and attacking) and you have maxed out str-D the ward proc from doggy is better then the heal critts. But if doggy is dead... It might be good to "park" the required 24AAs to get the str-E in other AA skills and then respect. The "<XYZ> of shielding" line starts at level 26 with "curse of shielding". I didn't check this and you are right: placing AAs into this skill won't help you for the next few levels.
