Looking for official answer about pre downloading please

<p>When I got my email after I pre-ordered RoK from Sony, they said there would be an option to pre download content so that you wouldn't have such a big patch on launch day.  I have checked every day for some option for me to check off to recieve it and found nothing.  I have a guildie telling me that he's using some version 2 of launch pad and has been getting regular downloads for it, although another guildie is using this same version of the launch pad and he hasn't gotten any downloads.</p><p>Is it required that we get this new launch pad in order to pre download?  If so how do we get it?  If not, is there an option at log in yet to pre download?  I am confused about all this.  I would really like to pre download so I don't have to sit there for 5 hours waiting for a DL with thousands of others and itching to get into the game. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>Could someone from Sony explain the pre download situation and what the deal is with this new launchpad?</p><p>I know this issue has been posted before but I never saw a concrete answer to this and no official one at all.</p><p>Thanks so much</p>

I'd like an answer to this too.  For EoF, EU servers were overlooked when it came to an incremental download, meaning we were faced with a long overnight patch from overstretched servers, getting up every couple of hours to check that it was still going (it wasn't always, and had to be restarted a few times).  Would rather not go through that again.

The last expansion was a pain for most on the Euro servers, as we didnt get the incremental downloads and had to patch a huge file, hopefully it will be done a little better this year.I was lucky enough to have beat access last year and copied the 'pak' and 'music' files from my beta directory into my main directory, this saved me a load of download time on release day.As for the new station launcher...Although this has some nice features and looks like it will be great to use when it finally goes live. I would strongly advise anyone on the non-US servers to stay well away at the moment. It does not allow you to log-in to any non-US servers, in its current state, and can cause many problems (I know many people that tried it had problems with it corrupting files and causing you to have to download some large files everytime you logged into EQ2)

On the Launchpad, under Preferences, do you have it set to "Download immediately" or "Download while I play"? If it's the latter, you probably won't see the pre-download, as the LP is doing that job while you're busy in-game or while your system is idle. Over the past week or so, I've had occasions where I've left the game and still had a lot of activity on my network connection which shows the patch server for the connection.

Also, there is the Register Expansion button on the log in screen of the patcher... I did preorder Digital D/L of RoK but only got an email with a preorder number which is more or less an invoice. No CD-Key is in this emailHence, do we need to somewhat get a CD-Key in prior to launch in order to D/L the files ?OrDo we actually D/L ing the files atm with the download while playing option, then at launch we will recieve an email with the CD Key (or is the CD Key not required and the account will automatically be RoK flagged once credit card got charged ??

Digital DL's do not need to enter a CD key.  They automaticly get flagged.

<p>i plan on preordering this weekend for 2 accounts and would like to know this as well. there should have been an option on the classic patcher already, and i will NOT use the beta launcher till it is live and officially working. i dont want to end up with a corrupted install that no longer works and having to reinstall/redownload everything or nearly everything again.</p><p>please PLEASE, can we get a TSR response on this or something? preferably today so if it is supposed to be there, we can get it fixed hopefully in time for this weekend when we all have time to download the content before it goes live tuesday.</p>

<p>bump for answer... </p><p>if we cant pre download most of the content for our preorders like you could do with EQ1, what is the point of putting that on the website in the first place? i for one dont want to have to wait in line for a day and a half to play the new stuff i preordered weeks ago because they dropped the ball on getting it on the patch servers early to let us download it so it isnt so much of a drain on the system.</p>
