Sebilis was an Iksar city, the captial, I believe, during Venril's first reign. though I'm not entirely sure of the circusmatnces around it's fall, it was, during Eq1, the lair of Trakanon, and was filled with a variety of frogloks, undead iksar, and mushroom men.

What he said. Now, in the Age of Destiny, it's the capital of Venril's empire.

Frogs, mushroom guys who kept a tunic everyone wanted, frogs, undead iksar like someone said, frogs, nasty dragon, frogs, and did I say frogs? The little sobs were everywhere and they hunted in packs. Plus too darn many of them were casters.

I miss the days when the type of mob meant something.EQ 2 mobs can be healers, casters, chanters or tanks and they all just melee and die.I remember when it was important to stun healers and casters so they couldnt lay down a mega nuke, when you had to snare mobs so they wouldnt flee and create mega trains.EQ 2 is so easy! =(

Healers and casters in EQlive would just as well melee you for 3000 a hit instead of nuke you for 2.

Anyways, the NDA is still in effect, so no new information on Sebilis is known at this time.

Info on Sebilis? You got it!Sebilis was the Capitol of the Iksarian Empire for a long, long time. Established by Venril Sathir when he united the tribes, he used it as a springboard to establish his great and terrifying Empire of Ik. From it sprung forth the decimation and enslavement of any who would dare question his reign. It was home of the Iksar for many, many years. Upon Venril's death (murdered by his son Rile due to his treasonous and blasphemous plans to sacrifice his soul to Innoruuk for eternal life), the entire line of Sathirians ruled from Sebilis. Rile, Atrebe, Ganak, and Chottal, up to the formation of the Emerald Circle when Chottal perished. His death marked the beginning of the end for Sebilis. From Historian Kelisk Mae`Lokh's notes on Chottal Sathir. At the time of his death, Ganak might have mated several times and produced many heirs. Only one, though, was of age to take the throne--and barely, at that. The coronation was a brief and joyless ceremony, and messengers from the Field of Bone arrived soon after to warn Chottal that the remaining Dragons were headed to Sebilis to make a final strike. There were far too few fighting Iksar remaining in Sebilis, but Chottal gathered whom he could: guards, wounded soldiers, and civilians with arms. The Dragons cut through the first line of defense with ease, and much of the city was damaged before the ragged Imperial forces finally forced the Dragons to retreat.Only in the aftermath did the Sebilisian military realize that the dragons had only one real target in their raid: the Imperial Palace. It was crushed utterly, and the heirs of Ganak were lost with it.The body of Chottal was recovered from the wreckage, and entombed within the crypt of the Emperors--the first King of Sebilis to actually leave a body to bury. The Sathir dynasty, too, was buried, and Sebilis placed its hope in a new form of rule. With no Sathir left to assume the Throne, the Iksar attempted their First non-dictatorship government. A number of nobles created this parliamentary government, but infighting caused it to fail miserably. The Emerald Circle would be responsible for the first fall of the Iksar Empire.Trakanon, the Poison Dragon, defied the Ring of Scale's wishes, and marched on his own decree upon the city of Sebilis. Without an organized government, Trakanon effortlessly swept across the city, and slayed many Iksar soldiers and civilians. Sebilis was decimated, the Iksar forced to flee their home for fear of their lives. It would become the home of Trakanon and all his servants. Fungus men and froglok slaves (including other tribes from Kunark) defended the old capitol like a fortress, using the Golems of the Army of Ik to help defend the tunnels and catacombs that contained many of Sebilis' old temples. The surface was left in ruin, and the only citizens that claimed the area the undead, as well as small bands of Forsaken. This wouldn't be the end of their story, however, as obviously, their reign continued into the recapture of Cabilis, and the rule of Vekin, a secretive and solitary Emperor who led with an iron fist. Sebilis, as it now is, is the new capitol of the Sathirian Empire. Venril reigns once again, the blasphemous and traitorous cur having taken back what he felt was rightfully his. What secrets does the city hold now? That is yet to be told.(In other words, wait for the expansion! )

If Venril Sathir was murdered by his son before becoming immortal how did he end up in Karnor's Castle, and how is he back ruling Sebilis?

Venril was performing the ritual to make himself immortal, Rile interrupted it. the result was instead of being immortal in the flesh, Venril became a Lich. thus he did gain his immortality in a way, but not the manner he intended, and has been building forces in Karnor. now, apparently, after the rending and shattering, he marched on Cabillis/Sebilis..whichever one was the captial at the time, and took the Empire back under his control.at least that's what I think happened. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong

Not exactly correct. Goes as follows.

Venril tried to perform the unholy ritual to Innoruuk for immortality, and was killed by his son.

He was burried and Rile took over rule of Sebilis.

Rile would eventually die.

THe Cult of the Arisen resurrected Venril into the body of Rile. So when you see the new Venril? That's Rile's body he's inhabiting.

And yes, he's a lich

I'd honestly think Venril We're talking a Lich before Lucan's time, that has had centuries to amass his power, beyond ruling a pit like Freeport.

I wouldn't even think to post something closely resembling that hunk of stupid stuff. It's not canon, end of story. The story of Chottal was assembled by what cannon we could find to give curious readers some kind of idea as to how he lived, and how he died. We know he existed, though there isn't a whole lot of info on him. Just little bits and pieces. Is every word Cannon? Well, the entire story in itself isn't. Is what the story based on cannon? You'd better believe it.I hope we see more information about him with the kunark expansion.

I haven't been able to explore Sebilis yet. It's a top-level zone. The frogloks inside are guktan models just for the sake of showing armor and weapons. The zone layout itself though is still the same as it was 500 years ago, just like Klak'Anon and Kaladim. Once you zone in, you gotta fight to around the corner to get to the zone out. You have to click on teh zone out too. Just stepping on it isn't enough.
